Don Taco Tequila absolutely blew us away. This is a fully vegan restaurant, but don’t come here expecting imitation meat or gimmicks — the food stands completely on its own. Everything is built around real ingredients, bold flavors, and thoughtful cooking, and every bite was insanely delicious.
The tacos were creative and perfectly balanced, the starters were packed with texture and spice, and the sauces were next-level. Even non-vegans would be obsessed — it’s the kind of place that makes you forget labels and just focus on how good the food is.
On top of that, the atmosphere is fun and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and passionate about the menu. If you’re in San Miguel de Allende and want something memorable, flavorful, and genuinely special, this spot is a must-visit. We’d come back in a heartbeat.

We loved this place! Every item was got here over the course of 2 days was absolutely delicious and you can tell the menu is well thought out. The staff were also so incredibly friendly and nice. Ángel the waiter even sent someone over to their sister restaurant to get us a cinnamon roll for dessert because that’s what we really wanted and that was some above and beyond service, thank you for making our day! 10/10, will come back again next time we visit (and yes we are already planning our next visit to this wonderful town)

The Arnold Palmers and Pastor tacos were the stars of the show. The food was well executed. It was really nice to start the meal with chips and a sampling of salsas. Be aware of the likelihood that vendors from outside will enter and approach your table…just part of the SMA culture. A polite “no” was graciously accepted.

Went to Don Taco Tequila the first day of our visit to San Miguel del Allende, and we went back for round two a couple days later. We loved everything about this restaurant. The food and beverages are top notch, and the staff are fun and attentive. I highly recommend this place –even if you are not vegan.

Amazing atmosphere, the vegan food is so delicious and filling. My non-vegan friends and partner loved the food and experience here. We were also serenaded by 2 musicians during our dinner.

This restaurant is a vegan restaurant that every foodie non-vegan will also rave about. Today’s lunch was the spinach and quinoa salad with rosemary roasted tomatoes, avocado, and a delightful agave and sesame dressing. Also had a refreshing ginger lemonade. Everything here is good. Everything!

I may become a vegan as a result of eating the mushroom quesadilla at Don Taco. It was that delicious and satisfying. The texture of the filling felt like I was chewing tender meat and there was a slight crunch that added to the “chewing satisfaction” factor. All of the other dishes we tried were also excellent. In particular, the corn “ribs” appetizer was a unique introduction to the meal and set the stage for the entire dining experience. The service was great and our waiter took the time to explain the ingredients and make recommendations. We were walk-ins so we sat in the small bar area, which had a good vibe to it. Eating here was a memorable experience and we’ll definitely make a reservation the next time we’re in San Miguel.
