Reviews
*The Arrival (6:45 pm)*
We arrived at 6:45 pm and were seated in a super tight spot where people could barely move their chairs. Not a great start. And to top it off, they left some stale, hard, cold bread on the table.
*The Wait for Water (6:45 pm – 8 pm)*
I ordered water and drinks, but they only served us poorly made drinks and no water. It took them 1.5 hours to finally bring us water. Meanwhile, there were kids at the table being served nothing and we got served alcohol before getting water. Unbelievable.
*The Appetizer Fiasco*
We ordered 3 appetizers for the table, but only one arrived, and the other was completely forgotten. People were getting upset and everyone was starving at that point – they simply had no explanation as to why they only served one appetizer for a table of 10
*The Food (9:30 pm)*
We finally got our food at 9:30 pm, after waiting for 2 hours. And let me tell you, it was a disaster. The food was unseasoned and not even close to authentic Brazilian food (as a Brazilian, I know the difference). One of our vegan friends got a caipirinha with condensed milk in it, despite telling the server she was vegan.
*The Band/Live Music*
They said there’d be a live band, but nope, just music on a TV that started playing at around 8pm after they realized the band bailed. Not exactly the atmosphere we were hoping for.
*The Service*
The servers were clueless, didn’t know what to do, and looked like they were on their first day. Everytime we asked any question they would say “I don’t know, we need to verify” and they would never come back with answers, they would just vanish and come back 30 min later
*The Bill*
When we asked to split the bill, the server looked like she was about to faint. We had to patiently go around the table and write down everyone’s orders separately. It took another hour, and we didn’t leave the place until midnight.
-One server apologized and offered us shots, saying we should ask for him next time. Um, I don’t think so – never returning and I don’t recommend this place to my worst enemy
I don’t understand the 4-star ratings. This was the worst restaurant experience I’ve ever had in my life – and let me tell you I’ve been around the world and I’ve seen EVERYTHING
I think I know why some people might be giving this place 4 stars… it’s probably people who go on a random Wednesday or during the week when everyone else is working, and they happen to visit during a slow hour with 1 or 2 tables at most. Maybe they got great service and amazing food, but I doubt it. This restaurant is NOT equipped to handle a full house. They don’t have enough staff, and the ones they have clearly don’t know what they’re doing.
If you value your time and money, PLEASE stay away from Don Raphael Restaurant. And if you’re planning a special occasion, don’t even think about celebrating it here.
The service was extremely slow — it took over an hour just to get water. Both the appetizers and main courses took forever to arrive, and we had kids with us.
Any time we asked a question, we were told, “I’ll check that for you,” and then the staff would disappear.
The food wasn’t worth the wait, and the drinks were just okay.
We arrived at 6:45 PM and didn’t leave until almost midnight (all those hours just waiting for our orders).
Sadly though, it wasn’t very crowded at all for 6:30-7:00… I know that they got slammed on their grand opening; If you went there that night, and the service wasn’t great, you absolutely owe it to yourself to give them another try. You won’t be disappointed.
