Absolutely loved this place! The food was fresh, flavorful, and truly authentic. The shredd beef tacos and salsa were incredible, and you can tell everything is made with care. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. If you’re looking for delicious, authentic Mexican food, this is the spot. Can’t wait to come back! Don Porfirio is one of the best corners for authentic Mexican food that’s I’ve been to in the Canutillo/El Paso area! We stopped in for lunch and were blown away from the first taste.
The portions are generous, the flavors are nice and perfectly seasoned, and everything tastes homemade with that real-deal family-recipe vibe. We tried the queso fundido with Chorizo, and the gorditas as my entré —everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The complimentary chips and salsa were fresh, and we couldn’t resist getting the horchata and lemonade too—they were refreshing and spot-on.
Service was quick, super friendly, and attentive without being overbearing. The place has a cozy, welcoming feel—perfect for a casual meal with family or friends.
If you’re craving true Mexican comfort food done right, do yourself a favor and make a pitt stop. We’re already planning our next visit for that hot and hearty caldo ! Highly recommend—5 stars all the way!

I bought a large pozole to go and it was packaged poorly. The broth spilled over the bag and the bread got wet and soggy. I had to toss it. It was missing half the broth when it got to me. I tried calling the restaurant but no one answers which is why I had to leave a review. Being my first time trying this restaurant I wasn’t very impressed.

I used to buy a lot from this place when it used to be Los Jarrones, and then it turned to don Porfirio I Noticed no Change, but After year, I can see the transition, especially on the menudo. Their food is flavorless, menudo is now much thinner in Flavor and Spices in general, and less menudo and hominy In every serving. I wish they could go back to the standard they had and be again a great spot for menudo!

Oh, noooo! I used to love picking up food from this place, but now I have to rethink it all! I paid $33 for a large menudo w/xtra onion and an xtra bread and 16oz of barbacoa! They forgot both of my extras, but they sure did charge me for them! Menudo was clean and tasty but it needed more chile sauce flavor and not just little floating pieces of chile de árbol. But the saddest part was that barbacoa- it was swimming in a liquid that I can only assume was grease! Dayuuum, it used to be my favorite- chunky and moist, but not greasy! It’ll be awhile- if ever- I return to give them another try!!!

I love this place!! The best “caldo de res” I had ever tried. Overall, I had a wonderful experience and highly recommend it to anyone looking for authentic mexican food. They also have drive-thru.

I don’t even understand why do they have a drive thru service if they don’t even take the time to take care of customers. I ordered 3 menudos and they took more than 30 mins to bring them out. Terrible customer service I will definitely will not go back..

Horrible service I walked in the doors at 4:20pm and the lady in the front said that I had to order something simple because the cook had already turned off half of the stove and they close at 5, I was excited to give this place a shot but rushing customers out the doors really disappointed me
