I was hoping it was the overflow of Valentine’s Day; however, reading previous reviews and being warn by family/friends, the food was overdone and tasteless. The clams casino had some clams overly cooked, but then our Surf & Turf arrived. Our Lobster tails were over done with no flavor and our filet mignon which were supposed to be medium rare were well done. Both the lobster tails & filets were dried out and lacked flavor. All this meal really needed was literally just salt and butter. Also, the bar needed to retap the syrup gun which I did try to tell them after getting first a none sweet ginger ale and the same with my sprite. We honestly understand inflation and don’t mind paying; however, if the food was amazing. It was disappointing since I had an experience there in the late 90’s hoping for that same memorable experience. I must say, the staff was hard working & understandable. Maybe time to revamp the chefs. I fear this ending maybe like Iberia.

We’ve been coming here for years and it has always been a great experience. Seafood is very fresh and preparation is delicious. Service is awesome. They replace our shell dish several times just before it fills. When I wanted to take home our extra bread, they threw in an extra piece. Highly recommended.

We had not been to Don Pepe in over 20 years. The atmosphere was the same as we remembered, but the food had lessened in quality. The Paella was not as good with regard to the seafood to rice ratio. The garlic shrimp was still quite tasty as we remembered. The Sangria also did not disappoint.

Hosted my daughter’s bridal shower here, and it couldn’t have been more perfect. Tony, our maître d’, was absolutely incredible—attentive, supportive, and ready to help with anything I needed. The paella is a standout, but the real stars of the show are the fresh fish dishes – the red snapper is cooked to perfection every time. My wife and I stopped by Don Pepe’s for dinner. Wonderful food, large portions, prompt service, an overall excellent dining experience! My wife had the paella, I had assorted seafood with Penne pasta in vodka sauce. Spoke with owner upon leaving, he has been there since 1981! Make a point to visit Don Pepe’s if ever in the Newark area.

Late post.
Heard good things about this place and finally a group of 6 of us made it there for dinner a month ago. Food was decent especially the Garlic Shrimp and Oxtails. But we were not impressed on the Paella as we had better at other places.
Overall not bad, but think it’s a little over-hyped.

I can truly say it was the best meal I ever had. I had the steak and my wife had the halibut and I love the garlic shrimp and the sangria was out of this world. Definitely a real good experience of service was totally awesome. I would say it’s worth a trip, check out the photos.
