Small but busy place. You order at the register and they bring you the food after a short wait. The mangonada (mango drink) took a while and it arrived when we were already eating. The nacho chips are homemade and the salsa is made with green tomatoes but it tastes good and fresh. I recommend the birria tacos even though the birria dipping sauce was not as thick or as tasty as expected. The street tacos were ok and they come with a lot of cilantro and big chunks of onion. I would not recommend the burritos, which were not very tasty either.

Tried this place randomly on a Good ole Taco Tuesday! The tacos were 1.00 off and they were pretty good! The meat was seasoned very well, I got asada tacos! I would ask for no cilantro next time. But otherwise everything tasted good! Oh I also had a chicken tamale!

Authentic & amazing! 10/10 would dine at Don Papi Chulo’s again.
We stopped by for a quick late lunch/early dinner and had a great meal. We asked about our usual allergies and they were very accommodating and assured us of the food safety. We tried the Mexican Bowl and swapped the regular meat choices out for fish and it was very tasty. It was a bit smaller than I thought for $12+ but it was so fresh & good, we inhaled it. Went for a side of guacamole with it and it complimented the meal perfectly, would definitely recommend.
We also got the fish taco, shredded pork and a delicious beef taco with melted cheese (quesabirra? don’t remember exactly but thr flavors were outstanding, might’ve been the best thing we tried).
The different salsa options were tasty too, spicy red, spicy green, mild green & habenero. They let us try them all, his favorite was the red and we agreed it was delish.
We opted for a fresh strawberry (con leche!) drink and the mango drink. Glad they offered us samples because it led to even our pickiest eater finding their new favorite! I’ll take that win.
Delicious, authentic, we will be back again!

Food was great. I got a birria torta which came with a generous amount of consomme, and two lengua tacos with the hot green salsa. Torta was great, the lengua meat in the tacos was very tender and had a solid flavor. The spict green salsa went well on everything. Overall very good.
Staff was very friendly. Food came out pretty quick, although the place was empty at the time i ordered so I lucked out on wait-time. The interior is clean and the decor is inviting in terms of take-out/fast-casual dining.
Will definitely come back again and try some more stuff on the menu in the near future.

Good authentic Mexican spot in inverGrove heights.Everything was cooked perfectly well seasoned and the staff was friendly. . Very clean and bright dining area..the prices are high but the portions are a good size.

I would give this place 5 stars even if the food was bad (which it is not) simply because the costumer service is so baller. The guy at the counter was friendly, helpful, and did his best to ensure we got all the sauces we needed. The food was great, affordable, with generous portions. I can’t wait to come back and try all their food and drinks. Thanks for doing us so right Don Papi!

Best Mexican food in the cities. We were taste testing a bunch of foods to see if we should consider them for catering a grad party and we were not disappointed. They had hot fresh food with homemade salsa plus pickled red onions with habaneros. The Spanish rice was nice and light, and birra queso taco was dynamite. I highly recommend eating here.

Had the enchilada burrito with scrambled eggs inside … like a breakfast burrito. The picture is the end result. And it’s amazing that they leave the salsa with me. So generous! … edit… had to share the rice pudding before we gobbled it up!
