It’s kinda dumpy outside and smells a bit of rancid oil as you walk up (there’s like 4 parking spots) no doubt from the fryer oil dumpster out back and the fact it was 90 degrees. BUT do not let that deter you! The food is worth it!
Inside is old, but well kept, clean and quaintly decorated. There was a family in back prepping food, the little kids helping dish out the chips and salsa. A baby crying. Lots of chattering in Spanish.
I knew I was in the right place! It was like a friends mommas house!
A short sweet little Latina gal hopped up on her stool to help me at the rather tall ordering window (you can see the top of her head in the picture) and with such a sweet disposition asked how she could help me. So after questioning her about the menu a bit (my Spanish is allot rusty) I settled on the Carne Asada burrito and a couple tacos (1 each pork and chicken).
I could see a couple short, squat little Latina women in the back kitchen start work on my order… HAND MAKING ALL MY TORTILLAS RIGHT THEN AND THERE BY HAND! Oh this was gonna be good I knew it!
That burrito was huge! On the order of a Chipotle sized burrito.. and the tacos were perfect little pouches of perfection!
Those fresh, home made pillow soft corn and flour tortillas were AWESOME! ALL the meats were tender and flavorful! The veggies were fresh cut to order… The beans in the burrito had great flavor too! So many Mexican places just use refrieds right from the can. Not this place!
One small criticism it that their house roasted salsa needs something… Some acid. I added some lime & little salt to mine and it fixed it up. It’s got a decent amount of heat but not too hot. And it needs to be chilled I think. Not a fan of room temp salsa personally.
If I were a local I’d eat here all the time!
Butt I’m a trucker passing through who happened to notice the place on the way into the factory across the street.

We tried this place for the 1st time 2 weeks ago and LOVE IT!! The burritos are outta this world and we both love how everything’s made fresh to order! We always try to support local businesses in our neighborhood and highly recommend this place !! Fast, knowledgeable and friendly staff and were greeted by the owners soon as we walked in!! I think we’ve found our newest obsession and it’s this place !!!! Portions are great and the prices are even better!! Can’t wait for this Saturday to get here because we’re going out to eat at Don Miguels!!!!! Anyone have any suggestions on what to try? I’ve had tacos, burritos and tamales here so far and LOVED THEM! See you Saturday Don Miguels!!

I always get the tamales from this place and they are always tasty. The problem I have with them is that they don’t seem to put the time in preparation. The tamales were so greasy that it stained my clothes. The grease was dripping everywhere. It did a number on my microwave oven and I used a roll of paper towels to clean up after heating 3 tamales. I should have known when I saw them putting the tamales in the bag. They were in groups of six per bag but the bags were full ofor grease from top to bottom. The corn husks were not wrapped properly and the grease was so thick that it was soaked up by the corn mesh. They make good food but the next time I see that tamales looks like this again, I’ll just cancel my order. How hard is it to wrapped them in foil paper like everyone else does? Come on guys. Drain the grease from the meat.

The food was okay I say okay because it’s spilled all over my bag it’s just bigger than a hole in a while but nice little place nice service price is just a little above average but they only take cash that was a big surprise to me and there is no real parking lot the way it’s set up it’s next door to a chicken joint that’s closed down but two to three cars at the most to fit at the actual Mexican restaurant I just parked right in front of the door but there was only one other car there and I don’t know if he weather customer or the owner cuz he was sitting at a table but I don’t know if you’re in the area and you looking for some good Mexican food try them out

I go here a lot. I usually order a burrito. I only come here because the burritos are made Big. This time (Tuesday 3pm 4/14/20 female cook) I leave out the restaurant and look the bag is sooooo light I thought she put 1 taco in the bag. I HAD to look when I got outside.! I was very disappointed! I only come here because they make the burritos big. I will give them one more chance!!! I go out the way to come here, I drive pass many Mexican restaurants to come here.one more chance, I hope not again!
Ok today is 5/28. Still small! Need to find a new spot!

Wow!!! This place is better than a certain “zaca” taco restaurant in Chicago. I’ve eaten here the past three days in a row and I haven’t gone wrong with anything on the menu. I’m so glad NWI has a GOOD taco place. No other taco place in NWI compares to Don Miguel’s.
I haven’t run into any language issues that other reviewers have mentioned. The restaurant is very small but as good as the food is, I expect business will grow quickly for them.

Nice staff. Food made to order comes to you hot, fresh, and tasty. Although make sure your in close proximity to a toilet after this meal.
