The food here is pretty good, especially by Iowa standards. I’ve eaten Mexican food from here to Los Angeles and most states in between. It’s not the best I’ve had, but I can trust Don Miguel to serve me something I’m satisfied with. I mainly get tacos and burritos. Pollo, al pastor, or chorizo sausage. I love the chorizo burrito. Greasy goodness. Their salsas are good too. I can’t speak to their other items, because I may never get them. I’m a man of habit, I know what I like. I like Don Miguel’s. And all of the employees have been a pleasure to interact with. I’ll be sad to leave the area when my work is finished, but I will return whenever I am back in town.

The food is always SO good!!! It’s fast, cheap and delicious. I have never been disappointed. This is one of my favorite spots to grab food from. I absolutely love it!

I was brought here by my wife earlier to check out the Mexican grocery store. The store has tons of ethnic food I’ve never seen and some brands but they all have Mexican pictures on it. Very cool. I want to buy the sombrero and poncho there someday!
We wanted to try the restaurant part but didn’t have time.
Tonight we did. Great place. This is the real deal! I got the Chicharron en Chile Verde. Wow. Very saucy. A little spice but just a taste. Came with Five corn tortillas not 3 like most places. I made quick work of that.
My wife got Tacos de carne asada. Also very good (I just got one bite) she really liked it.
I got the Mexican Cocoa Cola. This is the stuff with cane sugar not corn syrup. You can taste the difference. My wife who refuses to drink soda pop (pop, coke depending on your locality) actually had two long sips of it… woah…
Loved the music, the people/staff (Pedro was really cool to talk with). Looking forward to more date nights here. As we were sitting there eating, this older (than me) guy walks past us to the order counter and says “this is the best Mexican I’ve had since Phoenix.”

Caldo de res (beef soup) was delicious with lots of veggies and a big tender chunk of meat. Perfect warm soup for this season.

One of the most underrated places in Cedar Rapids. Don Miguel’s has some of the best Pastor, Cabeza, Chorizo, etc in town. Their gorditas are absolutely delicious, and their burritos are excellent. In particular they have a dish called Huaraches that are amazing – a thick corn tortilla with meat, melty white cheese, onions, cilantro and salsa. Absolutely wonderful. They also have an awesome habanero hot sauce that really lights it up. Thank you all for your hard work and for sharing your food with the community!

Best Tacos in the area and burritos the size of your head. I have been eating at this place for years, since long before they moved to this location. Everything is authentic and delicious and at these prices, I don’t know why you would eat fast food “tacos”. If you like a good fire make sure you ask for the mango hot sauce, but be warned, it’s not for the faint of heart. Also this is a grocery store with a wide selection of stuff you can’t find elsewhere. Edit after reading the one star review about the trash, look at the time stamp of the review. It was during derecho cleanup. Their entire old building was destroyed and there was a apartment building next door in ruins. So ya, there was some trash at the time, it’s clean now. Please think before you review.

Everything was fresh and service was excellent. Them being open at 9 am is top tier also for those of us who work second and third shift hours.

This isn’t a fancy restaurant; the decor is simple. However, the food and service more than make up for that. And the place looks clean. Both times I have been here the food came out quickly. I highly recommend the Mexican style tacos, Adobada and Carne Asada are both excellent. Their corn tortillas don’t fall apart as much as other places do. The sauces they bring to the table have great flavor!! I love the green sauce! Fresh lime slices come with the tacos. If you like real Mexican food, this is the place to go! You can also visit the store nextdoor.

Nice Mexican store and restaurant combo. Great selection of Mexican candies, sweet breads, and other food items. We bought a Pinata for a party. Food smelled great, but didn’t eat, this visit. We will be back soon.
