We went to Don Julio twice during our honeymoon, and overall it was a great experience — with a few mixed notes.

Our first night (and first meal of the honeymoon), we unfortunately waited about an hour past our reservation. That said, the free champagne while waiting was a very nice touch… and I also drank my husband’s, so after an hour of refills I was properly tipsy for our first Don Julio experience . The cheese was incredible. The tomahawk steak was good, but not the best steak we’ve ever had — especially given the hype.

The service and overall experience were still a 10/10. The staff was warm, attentive, and made us feel celebrated. And the ironing!!

Our second visit was honestly better all around — even though we sat outside. Everything felt smoother, better steak, and just hit right.

Would I go back? Absolutely — for the experience, the polenta, the free champs, and the atmosphere. The steak may be a bit over-hyped, but the full Don Julio experience is still very much worth it.

Upon our arrival, we received a glass of prosecco and an empanadita. AGUSTÍN provided exceptional service, answered questions, and provided excellent suggestions for our dining experience. We started off with a proprietary tomato over a tomato olive oil puree. We chose a tomato fig tartare which was incredible. The ribeye was good and so big that we had to split it. Truly the best steak I ever ate. The French fries were large and hot. We asked for ketchup but they do not serve ketchup in order to dmsavor the flavor of their own farm vegetables. We didn’t need ketchup because they were truly awesome
All staff is incredibly attentive and courteous.
The venue is accessible on first floor with accessible tables and at accessible outdoor tables that are covered
The red wine was so good with the steak. For dessert, we chose one of their farm-crafted ice cream and what could be better than dulce de leche! Background noise includes conversation.
Truly deserving of one of worlds greatest Restaurant awards

Need to book a table almost 1 month before to get access. Even after booking, we had to wait around 10 mins before seated, but we received a welcome drink and snack for free. Service was good, just maybe would be a good idea to change cutlery after starters, because it was left the same for main course, and for such price restaurant that should be a standard. Waiters could speak better english, as fot foreigner it is quite hard to communicate. Steak was great, and the portion was huge, 500gr of meat, could be posibility to take half portion. Prices are very expensive, but that is a michelin star restaurant

From the moment we arrived until we left 4+ hours later we were pampered and felt like we were family. We arrived at 11:20am for a lunch reservation, as this was the first seating there was a line that had formed. We were given a 1/2 glass of sparkling wine and a beef empanada (simple amazingly tasty) to wait the 10 minutes until we were sat. We settled in and our 3rd person arrived in time for a tour to see the meats and charcoal fire that they cooked over, they also took us down to see their ample wine cellar below and then were shown back to our table. It was a lovely tour and helped connect us to the restaurant and meal without any sales pressure whatsoever. We started with appetizers of provolone and chorizo before ordering steaks based on “meating” them earlier, I had the strip loin NY and Lisa the tenderloin. Grilled peppers and mash potato sides were ordered. As in most of South America the steaks were lean and flavorful. The tenderloin was very favorable putting the New York and Sirloin steaks at home to shame with little visible fat.

We took more than our time finishing a second bottle of Argentinian wine before desert where the restaurant sent over a couple of other bites to try. Conscious of holding up the table we asked for a quick digestive before leaving, then asked for the check. Before we could leave a glass of dessert wine showed up; “forcing” us to stay longer. This was our first Michelin star restaurant, and we LOVED IT, while you can get in and out without spending a lot of money; we advise planning on a relaxed time and several courses. The reward will stick with you for a long time.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Is this a touristy restaurant? Yes. Is it expensive? That depends on how you define value. Because this is easily one of the best steaks you’ll ever eat.
Like tasting a great wine, take your time with the steak—notice the layers of flavor, the texture, the uniqueness. It’s truly something special.
And the service? Outstanding. The staff makes you feel genuinely at home. Special thanks to Kevin, who went above and beyond and made our night unforgettable. This is a must in BsAs

Yo, I had the best steak of my life here. Entercote was gorgeously thick. They didn’t kick me out for finishing the bone off with my hands; if that’s not fine dining hospitality, I don’t know what is.

Yo, I had the best fries of my life here. Better than Five Guys at 1 AM. Better than that obscure artisan French fry restaurant in Belgium. Better than yo mama’s house.

Yo, the still water here was perfection. And I’m a water snob. Tho I do love me some Los Angeles tap water. Iykyk.

Someone said the Jersey milk ice cream is a must try. It’s very good but not a must. The fries are a must.

10/10, one of best meals of my life. Total was bout a hundred bucks. Service was impeccable (thanks Augustine!). Reputation well deserved.

We booked our reservation two months in advance, and it was a delightful experience. The food was outstanding, and the wine recommendations were spot on. They accommodated our preference to sit indoors, and while we waited briefly for our table, we enjoyed delicious mini empanadas and some sparkling wine. The restaurant’s atmosphere was lively and fun. The meat was excellent, the beets were incredible, and their fries, which initially seemed questionable, turned out to be incredibly crispy and tasty.

This is my third time visiting BA and I have been wanting to try this place. Is it fair that I am rating this based on it being a Michelin starred restaurant as well as it being the #10 of the top 50 world’s best restaurant ?

Service is excellent!! Food is good. But I cannot say that it is Michelin good. In my past experience, most Michelin restaurants gave me a big wow factor. I didn’t get that here. That’s why I gave it less than a 5 ⭐️. But all in all, it is a nice restaurant.

Don Julio was not just a meal—it was an experience, and without question the best dinner we had in all of Argentina.

From the very first bite, everything was outstanding. The appetizers were phenomenal—thoughtfully prepared, flavorful, and set the tone for what was to come. And then the steak… hands down the best steak we’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked, incredibly tender, and bursting with rich, unforgettable flavor. This is what Argentine beef is famous for, and Don Julio absolutely delivers at the highest level.

The staff was exceptional from start to finish—warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do. Even though we had a long wait for our table, it ended up being a blessing because of Juan, the manager. Juan personally took care of us, made us feel truly valued, and turned what could have been a frustrating wait into a memorable part of the evening. He is the true definition of what a manager and customer service should be—professional, kind, attentive, and genuinely invested in the guest experience. His hospitality elevated the entire night.

This place lives up to every bit of its reputation and then goes beyond it. Incredible food, world-class steak, outstanding service, and people who make you feel welcome and appreciated.

If you’re in Argentina and you don’t eat at Don Julio, you’re missing something truly special. We will remember this dinner forever—and we can’t wait to come back.

Absolutely excellent service and staff however I think Don julio is too hyped and excessively overpriced for the taste of food you get. Yes I know many may not agree.

Starting with arriving at the resto – it was packed on the sidewalk with other diners but I immediately was offered a glass of wine. This was a lovely gesture I think. When I declined as I didn’t want to drink alcohol, they offered some grapefruit juice which was absolutely yummy!

Once seated, I was offered some excellent bread and olive oil. Unfortunately – while the server was very helpful, I didn’t quite enjoy my meal at all. I skipped an appetiser because I wanted to save it for the much awaited steak.

That said got a lovely layered bread and a slice of prosciutto, as well as a cold tomato soup with compliments – this was very very good – maybe even the only tasty items I ate at don julio.

Then arrived the main order – a smaller size of steak I asked for, with trumpet mushrooms as a side. Sadly only about 20% of the steak was possible to chew. Almost all of the rest of it was too tough to chew (I ordered it medium rare – the way the chef recommends ). The trumpet mushrooms were leathery to bite into and way too greasy… and without any seasoning 🙁 The various chimichurris served with the stake however were absolutely excellent!

I thought the saving grace would be dessert and the highly recommended flan. I got it with the dulce de leche – it was overall way too sweet // the flan itself was not soft and had a tough texture to it.

Maybe I just got unlucky with my meal and what I ordered? I would like to think that.

One last thing – I was charged a fairly large fee for paying the servers who served the bread, soup and complimentary appetiser. I was not ok with this as the pricing should ideally cover all employees. If I knew the fee would be so high, I would have declined the extras.

Overall considering everything, I would not go back. The locals told me there are other places that do better food at a more reasonable price – I’d love to explore that the next time I’m in BA!
