Initially started in the small pueblo of San Jose Jalisco, Mexico, our father Jose taught us how to communicate and serve others. He had a convenience store and on weekends sold carnita tacos, tostadas, pozole, menudo, as well as other traditional Mexican dishes. The restaurant was a way to commemorate our father and all that he taught us which is why we all decided to name our greatest success after him, Don Jose. We opened our first restaurant here in the United States in East Hanover, New Jersey in 1998. Two years later we opened our second location in Sebring, Florida. Our third location opened in 2011 in Netcong, New Jersey. Ever since we arrived in the early 1980’s, we have been working hard to prepare and serve quality Mexican food.

I was really disappointed with this place. I’ve been here a few times and everything was great. This last visit, our food took over an hour. And it wouldn’t have been a problem, but we were seated right outside the kitchen door so we just kept seeing our waiter go in and out with other table’s orders and then tell us that our food was on its way. It really killed the night for us. By the time it arrived we ended up taking it to go.

We came here for an early dinner and was amazed by how good everything was. The service was fast and super friendly, and you can tell they take pride in their food. We ordered the chicken enchiladas and the chicken quesadilla- both filled with flavor. We can’t wait to return!

Don Joses is on our regular rotation. It has consistent high quality delicious food and very friendly staff. The bar has DELICIOUS drinks. It is very busy in the weekends but it’s worth the wait.
The atmosphere is very fun, almost like you’re on vacation. They have a mariachi band in Saturday night. The singer is VERY talented.

This place is very cozy, very nice decor inside, hand painted chairs and booths. The prices are very reasonable and the food is amazing. Very attentive staff and I would say everyone of them helps each other. The guy who waited on us is actually the bartender! When there is no drink order he helps out the the waiters. Genuinely an enjoyable place. I enjoyed seeing the people that works here.

Don’t hesitate. Just go and enjoy the food!! Chips and salsa are always fresh. Food never disappoints – anything you order there are big portions and so good! And the dessert. My God! Don’t miss the Fried Chimichanga with bananas.
I’ve taken a couple people here and all they can say is that between the atmosphere and the food – it’s definitely worth the drive and coming back and bringing more people to try it. The staff are also very good and accommodating!
