I stopped in for lunch at Don José Mexican Grill and was seated right away — great start! The staff were friendly, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout my meal. I ordered the Mexican plate, which came with an enchilada, taco, and chile relleno. Everything looked delicious, and most of it tasted great. I did have an issue with the chile relleno — it had a bit of an off taste, possibly from old oil — but my server handled it wonderfully, offering to remake or replace it without hesitation. I really appreciated how quickly and kindly they addressed the issue. Overall, the food was tasty, the atmosphere pleasant, and the service top-notch. I’d definitely return to try more dishes next time!
My husband and I stopped by for their comida corrida and boy was it yummy!!
Other places bring you a salsa bowl size caldo de res as part of the comida corrida, but we got a big bowl! I thought i made good beef soup, but this one blew mine out of the water! We were then surprised with some delicious enchiladas! We normally would have not finished them, but we sacrificed and gobbled them down! Oh, and the service was great!!! The waitress brought us every salsa they made and was VERY friendly!! The tip will definitely reflect her hospitality. So, Don Jose is a hidden treasure located in front of Cici’s pizza on Zaragoza. They have daily lunch specials, but their comida corrida was an absolute bomb!! Come give them a chance, you wont regret it! Provecho!
Shoutout to Jade! for the awesome service. She was super friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of the whole time. Definitely made the visit even better.
I’ll for sure be coming back! Highly recommend!
Based on our experience, here is a summary of the common criticisms and facts about the buffet:
Limited Selection & Menu: Some patrons find the buffet lacks variety for the price, specifically noting unexpected or non-traditional items like tater tots being served instead of a wider range of Mexican specialties.
Service Quality: While some reviews in 2026 mention friendly staff, others report “very bad” service or a lack of attentiveness during buffet hours.
Pricing: At $15.99 (adults) and $11.99 (children), the buffet is positioned higher than local daily specials, such as their $7.99 flauta or burger plates on weekdays. For an additional $2.00 you can find a better Mexican buffet with 4 times the amount of Mexican specialties also east of El Paso.
Buffet Hours: The Mexican buffet is typically available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
If you are looking for a better value, this is not the place.
This is a serious food safety concern. If this is how they handle their Menudo, I have to question the quality and freshness of everything else on their menu. I couldn’t eat it and had to throw it away.
I would not recommend ordering from this restaurant, especially for delivery. Extremely disappointing experience.
