I came here for lunch on a Monday afternoon. They had a decent crowd going, but the wait was minimal. I was able to place my order at the counter. The staff was nice and friendly. I ordered the number 24 which has 4 rolled tacos with avocado sauce. It also came with rice and beans, as does all the combos. Overall the food was okay. The tacos didn’t have much filling and the avocado sauce didn’t have much flavor. Maybe I had an off meal, I would like to give this place another try in the future to see if things are different. It wouldn’t be as big of a deal if the place was cheap. With the number 24 and a drink the total was almost $20. I would recommend going to a different Mexican restaurant in town.

Worst breakfast burrito I’ve had in my life. The burrito had not been toasted, the cheese hadn’t melted at all, there were barely any eggs (I couldn’t even tell if there was any), the potatoes were undercooked and crunchy (in a bad way) and there was zero seasoning.

Once again my food order was wrong… the 1 out of 3 times they get the order correct the food is decent but the quality and accuracy keeps getting worse at this place. Pictured it what we got when what we ordered was a Steak Ranchero and an order of Super Fries with NO MEAT.

Don Gilberto’s has become a tradition for me whenever I’m in Montrose, and today’s lunch reminded me why. Our family ordered carnitas tacos, cheese enchiladas, a chili relleno burrito, and plenty of rice and beans—everything was fresh, full of flavor, and came out quickly.
Everyone loved what they had, and the atmosphere was just as good as the food. It’s relaxed, welcoming, and the kind of place where you feel right at home, even if you’re just passing through.
I may not be a local, but this spot is always on my list when I’m in town. Highly recommend!

This place has gone to hell in a handbasket. Used to go there frequently until the gal up front started to work there. Rude. Called in orders and she wouldn’t give a pick up time or total. Completely stopped going there and have been going to Fiesta Guadalajara and have had consistent good experiences. We wanted Mexican food tonight 11/21/25 so thought maybe things had changed after 3 years…hell no. Called 14 times in 40 minutes only to get a busy signal. Ended up ordering Chinese. This is the second and last chance they get with me. Buh-bye Gerbiltoes 4ever.
FAFO How is this place still in business?

Great hole-in-the-wall Mexican Restaurant. We’ve had enchiladas, chicken and asada tacos with rice and beans. Everything was great. Will keep going back to explore their menu. Yum!

This is a great taco shop. I ordered a steak breakfast burrito. It was large, full of meat, cheese and potatoes. While they do offer hot sauce or salsa, it would have been great if it had green chili inside. Solid breakfast burrito.

Went midday, no one in line and two tables with diners. Carne asada is not supposed to be boiled… But at least the tortillas, pico de gallo, and red salsa were good. Better know what you want and exactly what you want when you get up there because there is no patience for asking short, pertinent questions, at least on that day. Also, when somebody says “oh darn, I wanted a side of beans and I forgot it”, your answer as a cashier should be “I gotcha, we’ll just have to run your card again, no biggie”. The woman who basically threw my food at me certainly shouldn’t be in any customer service position. This isn’t a junior high playground where chicks are sizing each other up to fight. EDIT. Gave them one more chance. Just ordered a simple bean burrito, $10. Got a side of pico de gallo, was literally a tablespoon of pico de gallo with nine pieces of shredded cheese inside of it. Gross. Go ahead and close already, it is not worth the prices you charge for 25¢ worth of beans. The cleanliness of the kitchen is in question after I got $2 worth of pico de gallo which was mostly shredded cheese that doesn’t belong.

Amazing quick service Mexican. Fast and friendly service. No frills restaurant. Amazing homemade food quality. A+. Photo of chili relleno plate #22. There were two rellenos in there with beans and rice, five corn tortillas extra. Huge portion for $13.

Great flavor and amount of food. Had the Ensenada (shrimp and steak with pico de gallo) burrito. The steak is the charred and chopped kind of steak and the shrimp was big. We ate inside and it was nice, a few tables. A laid back place.
