This is one of my favorite local Mexican restaurants. If you are looking fresh tortilla chips you may luck out though, 50/50 chance of getting some that are not stale. Other than that the place is great and still has an authentic feel and menu. The prices are fair and the wait staff is pretty spot on. I have not had a long wait time for the food coming out. If you are in the mood for something different and if you are hungry give the Torta Cubana a try. This is one of my favorite sandwiches.

Traveling South down 95 at noon, needed food and gas. I thought I was going to have to eat fast food. NO! What a treat it was to find this place! Had a really good fajita burrito that came with rice and black beans and chips and salsa for $9.99!!!

Everything was fine until my husband ordered a Ramen-Birria and it was flavorless, not even with the cilantro, onions, or the lime did it make it taste good. So if you do go here I dont recommend the Ramen-Birria for $15.99, not worth it at all, we asked the waitress if they may have forgotten the seasoning but no she says that’s how they make it there. Plus the birria broth looked a little funny.

I ordered the pollo ranchero because the description and picture sounded exactly what i wanted. When i got home and opened the food, i saw soupy pig slop with no queso on it. I would never pay 16$ to get this crap. I called and asked to speak with a manager and they said they didnt have one bc he was out of town due to family so they had no management. They said to bring the food back to get a refund so i ended up wasting my time picking up this trash and returning it. I received my refund when i returned it so no issues there. I would not recommend this place to anyone. You can tell by the photos.

I was happily surprised with this restaurant. I stopped at South of the border. I thought I was gonna be able to get Mexican? Food and they didn’t serve mexican food It makes no sense. It’s a Mexican themed theme park basically and no Mexican food so once again. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw this place where I decided to shut down for the night. The waitress was great very friendly I couldn’t believe how fast the food got to me. I ordered a side of guacamole with my chips and it came out immediately and the dinner that I ordered came out before I was even able to finish the guacamole. I’m from Phoenix Arizona so I know Mexican food and this wasn’t the best Mexican food. I’ve ever had but it was very good and like I said the service was great. Definitely a diamond in the rough.

Don’t be fooled by the appearance, this place is fabulous! Some of the best margaritas I’ve ever had. The guacamole is fresh and flavorful. Don Betos is a must try, but be patient! Not your typical fast Mexican restaurant, but neither is the food. Definitely worth the wait!!
