We scored a reservation for 4:15pm for a part of 4. We arrived on time and were seated pretty promptly. Where we were seated initially was pretty cramped and we realized fairly quickly it just wasn’t going to be comfortable for us. When we asked if a larger table that wasn’t so close to neighboring tables might be available we were quickly and graciously accommodated without hesitation. We ordered stuffed flatbread, chrysanthemum salad, buffalo milk caramelle, calamari fried rice, sourdough pasta cacciatore, steak limone, and the ravioli for the table to share for dinner. Our party also shared the tiramisu and pear sorbet for dessert. Everything we ate was a home run, not one bite missed, not even a little. Also worth mentioning, every dish was measurably different from the next, Don Angie plays many notes on our palates it seems. The atmosphere is upscale but not uptight.

As always, Don Angie is the most incredible culinary experience — the food is outstanding, unique, and special. The service is unparalleled and the staff leads all their actions with kindness and attention to the guest experience. It is always such a special occasion to join them for a meal and I certainly hope to be back soon!

Dish Highlights: The Japanese sweet potatoes and the chrysanthemum salad are MUST gets. The BBQ calamari were a unique and yummy app. The sourdough pasta cacciatore never disappoints, nor does the shell steak al limone or lasagna for two.

Decent vegetarian options for appetizers / pasta. Was able to grab a seat at the bar when they opened with no res. Cocktails and everything we ordered was very delicious, and fairly quick service. Very nice atmosphere, didn’t feel too crowded / loud despite restaurant being almost at full capacity. Would definitely come back to try more dishes here (:

I was able to get a lunch reservation a week in advance on OpenTable and it was worth it! Everything was delicious and lived up to expectations. We ordered the chrysanthemum salad, calamari w/pepperoni rice, caramelle pasta, and the lasagna to share and everything was beyond expectations. The calamari really surprised us, but the salad is a must order. The lasagna is delicious and the portions are huge. The bread it is served with is amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant as “worth it” if you’re trying to get a reservation: keep trying!

Don Angie absolutely lived up to the hype. We came at opening on a weekday and were able to snag bar seats right away. The compact menu is full of creative Italian dishes, and everything we tried was outstanding – the Tonnato Vitello combined veal tartare and tuna carpaccio in a well balanced and savory bite. For pastas, the Sorpresine with Smoked Mussels was very umami, while the Buffalo Milk Caramelle with black sesame and candied kumquats was refreshingly bright. Even the Japanese sweet potato side was a highlight – beautifully crisp and fragrant.

Every dish felt intentional and creative, and I can see why this spot gets so much love. Can’t wait to return to try their signature lasagna next time.

Second visit and just as incredible as the first. We had the lasagna and chrysanthemum salad again—both flawless and absolutely worth the hype. The lasagna continues to be a standout.

This time we also tried the scallop crudo and the sourdough pasta cacciatore. Every dish was excellent. The pasta had beautifully balanced flavors with subtle olive brine and perfectly seasoned chicken. The scallop crudo was fresh and delicious, though the portion was small and left us wanting more.

We enjoyed a great bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon and finished with the black cocoa tiramisu, which was the perfect ending. Overall, a 10/10 experience and a restaurant that truly lives up to its reputation.

Was able to walk in to Don Angie on the Fourth of July – knowing it was a holiday weekend when people would be gone and most folks who stayed would be on the other side of Manhattan watching the fireworks We had to wait a bit for the table, but it was worth it.
We sat outside on the side under some scaffolding, the only reason the atmosphere is docked a star, but we didn’t mind too much. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and recommended a bar for us to go afterward.
I got the Margherita drink, quite tasty and refreshing in the heat. We shared the Chrysanthemum salad to start – it was good, but nothing special imo, so probably wouldn’t order it again. Then came the lasagna which was simply spectacular! Would come back for the lasagna alone, but also looking forward to trying their other apps and desserts.

Don Angie is something I dream about on at least a weekly basis. We were lucky enough to dine there in 2022 and then again December 12th, 2025. Once again, they’ve secured their spot in my weekly dreams until I get the opportunity to *hopefully* dine there once more.

The staff is always unbelievably friendly, accommodating and have the best recommendations.

The food both times was even more than exceptional! The chef’s care about what they are putting out, and you can taste it in every bite.

The thoughtful textural differences in every single dish and outstanding flavor is something our whole party couldn’t stop raving about!

We feel truly lucky to have experienced Don Angie twice.

Don Angelo in NYC is an absolute gem. The pasta lasagna with crushed pistachios was heaven on a spoon—the sourdough pasta literally melts in your mouth, and anyone would love it. I ate every single bit of the stuffed garlic flatbread, a started you cannot skip, and I was almost full when the entrées came! The cauliflower was a total table-favorite; everyone kept reaching for more.

I despise salad, but the chrysanthemum salad changed my life. I loved it so much I basically gulped it down in minutes.

The vibe is super fun, and even with a lot of people inside, the noise level wasn’t bad at all. The music was great—nice without being annoying or boring.

And honestly, the service from Micah made the entire experience even better. Amazing energy, super kind, and really on top of everything.

Highly recommend!

The hype surrounding Don Angie is real. Everything, from the service, to the vibe, to the food was amazing. The lasagna and the Caramelle are the stars of the show, but the Chrysanthemum salad and the flatbread are also great. Drinks and service are wonderful and I would eat here every week if I lived in NYC. Hands down the best meal I have ever eaten in my 50 years in this planet.
