Tonight, we found our sushi home in East County, Santee, at Domo Sushi. Our server Malia was amazing. Loved the quality of the sashimi and the rolls were delicious. Great atmosphere with fun servers. We will see you again soon.

Unfortunately this restaurant went down hill. It used to be great until it was sold to new owners. The customer service is awful, you’ll wait at the door for 15 minutes plus in a halfway empty restaurant. The sushi quality went to hell, the chefs left the end of the shrimp tail in all of the sushi we ordered is example I can give. The meso soup was cold and not flavored. The server was too busy talking and sitting on his butt to bring you food. We waited forever for our food and found out after 35 minutes of waiting that the takoyaki (the appetizer) was out because “He can’t find it anywhere and doesn’t know where it is”. The tea was luke warm at best. The wasabi wasn’t mixed properly like it had zero horseradish added so it wasn’t spicy. The rolls took way to long to bring out and the restaurant looked dirty compared to before.
My husband and I are so bummed out, this restaurant used to be 5 star but the new ownership trashed the place. We won’t be coming back.

Super disappointed with Domo over the past few months. We used to go there every week. Now, we have problems every time we go.

Today was the worst service yet. When we got there, we were told to pick up our own menus and sit anywhere.

We ordered four rolls (uncooked) and 2 hand rolls. It took over 40 minutes to get two rolls and two hand rolls. At 40 minutes, we were told they were out of spicy tuna and needed to pick two other rolls. The super frustrating part is that I saw the sushi chef tell the servers 15 minutes before that they were out of spicy tuna. The servers stood at the front doing nothing instead of notifying us immediately so we could still get our food for the adults at our table.

After waiting 40 minutes, we decided to cancel the rolls instead of waiting another 40 minutes.

The crazy part is that it was not busy. There are only half full. No one was moving fast and zero signs of them feeling busy. We got to the restaurant about 25 minutes after they opened. So, there’s really zero excuse for any of it.

They were also out of sprite and lemonade, and have no other caffeine-free drinks for kids (except water). And they still tried to charge us for sprite when we all got waters!

They also didn’t bring the side sauces we asked for.

So now, we are still hungry and have to find a second option for lunch since we were only able to feed our kids.

There was plenty of seating available (went for lunch right after they opened), the waitress was very friendly, cheery, and on top of drinks and food the entire time.
We got the garlic edamame, which had a good flavor and super garlicky, the tempura plate, sushi bento, and 3 rolls -everything was super fresh, well prepared, and very tasty!

Had the worst sushi I have ever had. Got to the restaurant right when they opened for dinner hours 4:30pm. The server was nice she was doing the best she could considering the situation. We order our food right away because my friend and I have been here many times in the past and loved the sushi here. We ordered a bento box and two specialty rolls. Bento box normally comes with a California roll and the server asked me if I would like to substitute it for gyoza she mentioned sometimes people like to substitute it for something else I thought it was strange considering this is a sushi restaurant but I said sure I’ll try it. The bento box came out first and quickly. Miso soup was ok one had miso paste one did not. We didn’t make a big deal because it didn’t bother us too much. Then we waited almost 45min for our rolls there were 3 people total in the restaurant including my friend and I. We over heard the person making the sushi and the server discussing sushi rolls and can clearly tell that something was wrong. We finally get our rolls and they were not good you couldn’t even grab them with chop sticks they just fell apart. Finally we start talking to the other customer in there and that’s when we find out that the person making the sushi is not the sushi chef and the sushi chef called out. It would have been nice to know that at the beginning. Because after people started to trickle in the server started to let them know they had the option to leave. I also witnessed someone having to cancel a order that was called in that was not ready. We ate our food because we were both so hungry but even after all that we still paid full price for a sushi roll made by beginner that never makes sushi. Don’t think I will be coming back after this experience.

Walked in to empty restaurant and it took the host/waitress over 5 mins to seat us. 3 more couples came in after us and walked out due to the waitress taking to long. We ordered edamame to start and it was cold and not good. The sushi we got was also not fresh and tasted stale. The service was not good waitress seemed scattered and all over the place I don’t know how the place was empty. Have been coming here for YEARS and we will not be coming back.

Great date night and enjoyed every roll we ordered! We like the deep fried ring of fire, but it’s definitely better ordered in than take out. Avocado roll was very fresh tasting. My husband was a big fan of the albacore roll and tempura roll.

Bad costumer service, and bad food. Very disappointing! I ordered a California roll which tasted old even though I watched them make it. My tiny salad was old and wilt which didn’t even eat after seeing it. The miso soup I order was a 5 out of 10. I ordered the simplest food but I waited 20 minutes while no one else was there. A family walked in while I was waiting were never greeted so by the time I left they walked out. Not welcoming at all!

The last three times we have been here the service has been absolutely awful. Our appetizers were forgotten and came out last. The meals came out at different times that one person was done before the sushi came out. The chairs are warn to the padding.
Makes me sad the sushi used to be amazing.
Last night the sushi chef was talking more than making sushi. We cancelled my roll because my husband was finished with his meal and they hadn’t even started my roll.
