Lunch only. 4 entrees, 9 sides. Arrived about 11:30, long line, moved at a good pace. Food was hot and generous portions. We had crawfish etouffee with turnip greens, fried okra, cornbread and tea. Also fried catfish, potato salad, fried okra, turnip greens, cornbread and tea. Turnip greens were some of the best we’ve had. Recommend. Would return.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

If you crave old-school Louisiana cooking, Dominique’s Stockyard Café is your next lunch stop. Housed inside a working livestock market off US-190, the café feels frozen in time—wood-paneled walls, scuffed black tile, and a door greeter who hollered, “Get on in here and eat!”

The plate: Crawfish étouffée over rice, creamy white beans, and their spaghetti-and-cheese. The étouffée hit every note—velvety light roux, holy-trinity veggies cooked down until sweet, and loads of tender crawfish tails with just enough peppery kick. The white beans were slow-stewed and smoky, almost silky, with a background hint of sausage that made every bite pop. Even the spaghetti-and-cheese—simple elbow noodles in a thick, cheddar-forward sauce—scratched the comfort-food itch. I washed it down with a fountain Coke and capped the meal with a peach cobbler that nailed the buttery-crust-meets-cinnamon balance.

The vibe: Lunch-only service, Styrofoam boxes, handwritten menu board, prices that feel like a bargain in 2025, and—tucked in the overflow room—a full-size vintage Ronald McDonald statue quietly supervising the action. Pure Baton Rouge character from countertop to parking lot.

Great people, great value, and food that tastes like Louisiana should. Dominique’s is officially on my must-eat list every time I roll through town.

I travel all over the world with my job. Every now and then you run across a little gem of a place to have a good, southern home cooked meal.

Here it is! Probably one of the top
three cafes in the county imho. All of their food is absolutely amazing. Everyone treats you like family, and you almost feel like you’re at your grandma’s house for Sunday dinner.

All puns and jokes aside, this place is as good as you will find anywhere in the country.

Oh, if the name puzzles you, don’t let it. It’s part of an actual stockyard.

I was driving through, looking for a place where locals eat. And this place is amazing. People from all walks of life lining up for the best lunch I’ve had in a long while. The pork stew was delicious!

Best home-cooking/soul food anywhere. A cash-only spot that’s extremely popular with the local working crowd. You get fast, super friendly service, an unbelievably large portion of everything, and the food tastes like homemade. One of the wonderful ladies cooking has been making magic there for over 38 years! You won’t find many, if any, hidden gems like this. Don’t miss it.

Stopped in after hearing how good the food was.. I got lasagna, jams and green beans with a second plate of jambalaya, yams and cabbage.. the food was okay.. the line gets long during lunch time and if your eating in it’s kinda tight in there so be prepared to move your chir out the way of traffic sometimes.. it’s definitely worth trying.. didn’t take to long to get food and prices range from 8 to 13 bucks for dinner.. portions are nice and dinner comes with tea.

Was told about this place by a guy at a place I was delivering to. You know it’s good when people are lined up at the door before it opens. It definitely isn’t anything to look at, but the food surely made up for that. Everyone was very nice and friendly. Had the hamburger steak with rice and gravy, corn and green beans. Everything was excellent. Definitely will be coming back next time I’m in town.
