Dolcezza is a wild dream and the love story of Violeta and Robb. An argentine girl met an american boy in the amazon jungle. Their 3 month odyssey across Brazil finalized in a Buenos Aires gelateria. That night the idea was born to bring argentine gelato to America. In 2004, Violeta and Robb founded Dolcezza in Washington, DC. Today, Dolcezza serves argentine gelato in 6 shops, 100 restaurants and 2500 grocery stores throughout the country. Their gelato is regarded by many, including Saveur, Bon Appetit, Wall Street Journal and The New York Times, to be among the very best in the country.

For the peeps that may not know what I am talking about it’s a shot of espresso with a scoop of ice cream YUMMM! I prefer to get mine with dark chocolate ice cream as it makes for a rich & not too sweet affogato.
They have a beverage menu, gelato & sorbet menu, as well as frozen pints of gelato to-go.
The three girls working today were wonderful & friendly which was refreshing to see as the last time I came the staff was rather distant & not engaged (miserable).
Thanks for a very nice Sunday treat and for your gracious staff.
The drinks are a little expensive- $6 for a small hot latte with no syrup.
They also serve Gelato and have pints of ice cream available for purchase.
– For takeaways only and no seating inside. (There benches in front of the shop)
– Besides gelato, coffee is available here as well.
– So busy and crowded on Sunday evening.
[My experience]
– I ordered 2 scoops of Pistachio and Coffee&Cookie (both flavors are too sweet and too milky for me)
– A bit pricey with 8USD for 2 scoops.
