What’s not to like about a grilled Ribeye with roasted Cambray and a side salad? Cabaret Potatoes are a medium-to-large variety with smooth, light brown skin and creamy white flesh. Side salads served by Italia are blessed with a fresh & crisp, spring mix topped with tomatoes, onions (optional) and shredded Parmesan cheese plus your choice of dressing. Blue Cheese for me please!
Being vegetarian and living locally, I’ve learned that quality vegetarian options are an endangered species. People love their steaks and burgers, okay?! Italia in Wedowee has some truly remarkable burgers to chose from. Check out the Italian or Pizza Burger. Then there currently is a Rubio with breaded chicken topped with a cream cheese spinach and spring lettuce blend. Italia also boasts a Steak Sandwich with a special Cruz Pepper Sauce with cheese.
Ms. “Mama” Mia, Italia’s new owner (May of 2025) was quick to say that her customers are listened to and that her staff is not ever going to be too busy to ensure that vegetarians, or anyone really, are just as pleased as any other customer willing to trust their lunch or ‘evening out’ experience with her small business. In my case, I called 30 minutes before I headed out to let the Italia kitchen know that I would like a vegetarian lasagna with a side salad and house bread, toasted baguette slices served with freshly whipped garlic butter.
If you have a dietary restriction, don’t be shy, communicate it! Ms. Mia will work to accommodate you!
While you’re waiting for your meal to be prepared, know that Italia has their liquor license and offers draft and bottle beer, with nice wine selection and a variety of your mixed pleasures to choose from.
For desert ask about the, Desert of the Day. Today it was Gingerbread Cake with a Cheesecake Middle. Wowie! It was heavenly.
While I dined with Italia, there were a dozen to go orders picked up. Customers I spoke to said that they appreciate the ability to order high-end pizza “to go” and not have to drive fifty miles round trip to get it.
Outside, there is plenty of parking along both sides of Hwy 431 and in front of Mia’s Dolce Italia or you can use their very own parking lot located behind 109 Main St S. With ample median strip parking and parking at the rear of the restaurant, you can easily access ‘good-as, home cooked’ on your lunch break or special evening out together with a coworker, loved one or beloved friends.
If you’re a wheelchair user, there are ramps to access the entrance to Italia on either side of the building. The restroom is not technically, “wheelchair accessible” however, there are no steps to navigate and with a little help from a friend or staff, I’m told that you will be accommodated. The bathrooms are fresh and clean; I checked them out.
To start, the bread that was brought to the table was nice and fresh, and the herb butter was creamy and delicious. The salad that came with my pasta was very fresh, the balsamic vinegar dressing was made in-house. The chicken Alfredo was simply heaven. The sauce was creamy and flavorful, the chicken was tender, and the top was sprinkled with fresh herbs. My husband’s calzone was delicious!
As far as the service, you can’t get much better. Both the new manager and all of her friendly staff made sure we were taken care of. The atmosphere is quaint and cozy. The inside is extremely clean, booths wiped down, spotless dishes and glasses. We highly recommend Dolce Italia to anyone wanting to support their local businesses and to show their taste buds a little love.
The fresh homemade bread and butter was incredible, soft and warm, and the perfect start. The fresh bruschetta was amazingly perfect! The Grande salad was packed with flavor and freshness. We were surprised and delighted to learn they make their own ginger ale, and it was absolutely delicious. The sangria was fresh, fruity, and perfectly balanced.
There was no wait when we arrived, and we mentioned we had just gotten married. The owner went above and beyond to celebrate with us by bringing out a fig jam flatbread which was the best we have ever had. It meant so much to us and made the moment unforgettable.
Our server, the owners daughter, was knowledgeable, attentive, and checked in throughout our meal to make sure everything was perfect, and it was.
We wish this restaurant existed in St Petersburg Florida because we would absolutely be regulars. If you love authentic Italian food made with care and heart, this is the place. Dolce Italiana made our day extra special, and we cannot recommend them enough.
A must visit and an easy five stars! Thanks to the entire crew!
If you get a chance get a meal, or try the desserts. We will return next time we pass through the area.
Thank you for bringing me comfort food!!! It really goes to show you the positive side of having an Italian owner manage the operation and infuse tastings throughout your dining experience with recipes taken from her own childhood memories!! It doesn’t get any better than that! As I looked around me everyone was enjoying their time spent there! The bread was yummy with their homemade butter, the spaghetti noddles were perfectly cooked and absorbed the sauce! The service was impeccable and I left as full as I could get having had plentiful proportions! Love that!!! I’ve been back twice in my two-day stay! Bless-you all!
on another note, it’s interesting to read these reviews. as the 1 star reviews HAVE to be just to slam this restaurant and a personal attack, there is NO way that these are “honest” reviews.
take a chance on this restaurant and enjoy pretty darn authentic Italian cooking!
