Party of 2, we sat at the bar, and we came in 30 minutes before close so we are thankful they accommodated us. We did the pre-fixe and bottle of wine. The wine was very reasonably priced, barely a 2x markup over retail which is very low. $45 for a customizable 4 course pre-fixe, of very high quality food, and large portions. I was stuffed by the end.
Starter – Chicken fried and buffalo wing dressed lion’s mane mushrooms. Very cool flavor packed vegetable based starter. Great take on fried mushrooms and if your vegetarian/vegan a great chicken wing replacement (not sure if the whole dish was V/VG).
Soup – Butternut squash soup, green curry oil, and a house made marshmallow where the chef used honey instead of corn syrup then put a great glass like brulee top on it. It was not heavy, and perfectly balanced. Great dish, pretty, and the sweetness from the marshmallow really complimented the less sweet and spiced butternut flavor. Could eat a whole bowl of this stuff.
Main – I had the airlined Chicken Breast, and I believe it was the best chicken breast I have ever had. Nice petit size, suggesting it was a high quality chicken. Brined and dried before searing so the skin was delicious. Very juicy and great chicken flavor. Gnocchi, sauce, broccolini, tomato marmalade complimented well. Normally I would go for the hanger steak, but I eat those at home fairly often. I am very glad I tried the chicken, and would order it again. My partner did order the steak, and it was beautifully cooked, looked amazing, and I am sure it was.
Dessert – I had the cheesecake, can’t remember the exact flavor, but it was solid. Great quality fruit to pair with it.
Overall, this place is a hidden gem. An intimate, modern restaurant doing some of the most exciting work in Omaha right now.
The owner came out and spoke with us personally, which was a neat touch. Would recommend.
It was an intimate atmosphere, which was nice. There were some chairs that definitely needed retiring and the booth seating was sunken in.
The tasting menu looked impressive. The dishes that came out were plated well. What was disappointing is that most of the proteins (lamb, wagyu, and shrimp) were salted aggressively. I struggled to get through a tasting portion. The “hot” food could have been warmer.
The salmon and oysters were perfect. My boyfriend liked his soup and the poached pear.
I was going to opt for the wine pairing, but decided to try three signature cocktails instead. The cocktail of the day was sweet, but tasty. The other two were cloying. My boyfriend got a classic cocktail that was solid.
We regularly go to tastings, pairings, guided dinners, and this was just another fun night for us both. I want to try this place out again, looking for redemption. We are just not excited about doing it any time soon.
Chef is very hands-on with his business. He understands quality food and quality service, and he made us feel like we were the center of his attention for the evening. We spent about three hours enjoying the five-course tasting menu, but the time flew by anticipating the next piece of edible art.
The atmosphere was perfect as the lighting was soft, and while there was a positive buzz in the place, it was quiet enough to have a conversation comfortably. We highly recommend Dolce and will be returning.
Soup of the day was a cauliflower infused with truffle.
The mussel option for lunch was $11. Exceptionally generous portion of mussels.
The chicken gnocchi option was fine. It was good, but the other items stood out more for me.
Service was friendly and polite. Definitely would like to see the rest of their menu.
Presentation is very nice. Altogether a lovely restaurant great for date nights. It has an intimate high class feel to it.
This is a small stuffy restaurant with a bar back hacking up phlegm.
Everything was seasoned well and tasted great, but we had issues with several aspects that will prevent us from returning and most definitely from leaving a positive review.
We chose the bread service for a small appetizer. One of the rolls was completely black on the bottom. My friend asked for another one. They replaced it with two rolls (a new order). That was very nice of them. However, one was burned on the bottom and had raw dough.
Our entrees for the group were 3 steaks and 1 salmon. All of them were over cooked and cold. All of the steaks were ordered as medium and cooked to well done. The side potatoes were steaming hot. My guess was that something went wrong with the timing.
Our server was very polite but did not check on us after bringing food and was extremely slow with refills.
It was a huge let down for what we paid. So all in all, I would not recommend this restaurant.
