I live a few blocks away, and I drive by this nondescript building and entrance every day. So imagine my surprise when a friend of mine (who works as a personal chef) recommended this place, saying it was, in his opinion, the best restaurant in northwest Philly. How had I not heard of it?
Cut to me and my girlfriend, who went for our anniversary dinner.
The whole experience was magical.
The host greeted us warmly and checked our coats.
The restaurant itself is stunning. The bar is beautiful and lit like you are in a movie. This is a very stylish place.
The attention to detail is clear. Everything feels nice, the tables are not too small, and they don’t pack them too close together.
Our server, Doug, was very warm and made a bunch of great recommendations. He checked in on us just enough to feel like we never needed anything, but not so much that it felt overbearing.
The food was amazing.
We had oysters, the beets, the lamb ribs, sunchoke terrine, squid ink spaghetti, rad noodles, and Atlantic salmon. Then, for dessert, we had the carrot cake.
My favorite things were, in this order, the ribs, the rad noodles, and the carrot cake. The sunchoke terrine was a flavor-packed bite as well.
I recommend only ordering the rad noodles if you like spice, they did not hold back, and we loved it!
Having said that though everything we had was delicious.
we also ordered a few cocktails. the cocktails matched the quality of the food. I loved the Oaxaca Flocka. And we apricated the wine pairing recommendation for our meal.
I will be going back. I am excited to try everything on the menu.
This is definitely the best restaurant in Mt. Airy, and in all of northwest Philly. And in my opinion, this place ranks up there with the best restaurants you can find in all of Philadelphia.

Great food and excellent service! Do not miss the lamb ribs if I came again I would order multiple, super crispy on the outside yet extremely tender on the inside. Carrot cake is also amazing, and the rad noodles were delicious. Great experience and the restaurant is small and not too loud so easy to have a good conversation over dinner.

Holy smokes, you better get here and COME HUNGRY! ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! Rose greeted us so warmly and sat is down in a beautifully set dining room and served us for the evening. The service alone was top notch, from recommendations and pairings to her genuine joy in making connections with the people that come in. The food though. WHAT. I cannot begin to explain the complexities of the flavorings, they danced on my tongue so delightfully and perfectly. We completely demolished everything, from the sweet potato tostones and lamb ribs to the mains and side of their chorizo fried rice, his lasagna, and my ridiculously lovely duck (I’m gluten free, so sadly just smelled the richness of his plate and envied). Dessert was carrot cake and a baked pear, which was just ✨️ They also have the most interesting NA Drinks, best NA espresso martini I’ve had in the whole city. The people that came by with food, to check in and say hi, and everyone that had a hand in our beautiful night, thank you so much. 12/10, will be back and bringing my loved ones!

From the moment the drinks hit the table, I knew we were in for something special! As someone who had served/bartended at a craft cocktail and wine bar for some time, I can recognize when a mixologist is using impressive technique and thoughtful flavor combinations. These were some of the most inventive and impressive cocktails I’ve ever had. They arrived looking nothing like what we expected, yet somehow delivered *all* of the flavor. Truly the highlight of the evening!
The small plates were almost as impressive (the drinks just really blew me away- I’m still thinking about the Oxaca Flacka ).
The scallop crudo was bright and fresh, with a beautiful citrus tang and just a subtle bite of spice on the back end. The lamb ribs were phenomenal – I could’ve eaten ten orders. The fish caramel sauce? Chef’s kiss. So inventive and deeply flavorful. I was also a big fan of the Caesar salad. While my boyfriend wasn’t as impressed, I thought the dressing was beautifully executed! + I will always appreciate a breadcrumb topping over oversized croutons.
Service was phenomenal throughout. I can’t remember our server’s name sadly, but they were warm, knowledgeable, and gave thoughtful recommendations. I loved hearing about how the restaurant evolved from its original catering company roots and that kind of storytelling always adds something special when trying a new restaurant.
There was unfortunately a noticeable drop-off with our main courses. We didn’t send anything back because we didn’t want to offend the chef, but it feels worth mentioning. The duck had an overpowering propane flavor that mixed awkwardly with the gaminess. It was a shame because the sauce itself was delicious, but the propane note overwhelmed the dish. We also ordered the squid ink spaghetti, which didn’t quite land for us either. The sauce felt lighter in flavor than expected, and the noodle-to-broth ratio left the pasta a bit dry as we were finishing.
Dessert brought things back up again and the wine list is just as strong as the cocktail program! I especially loved the full-bodied tannat our server recommended. We tried both desserts: the miso chocolate chip cookie and the carrot cake. My boyfriend claimed the cookie was one of the best he’s ever had; I gave him a side eye because I’m famously known for mine but I understood once I took a bite! My personal favorite was the carrot cake. The frosting was whipped, light, and airy, and the pairing with raisins was such a pleasant surprise.
We’ll absolutely be back! It’s not in our neighborhood, but it’s well worth the trip – especially for the cocktails and small plates!

Easily one of best meals I’ve had in Philadelphia, ever. Big fans of Kalaya and Suraya, and Doho is at that level. Very inventive, delicious fare along with creative cocktails, great ambiance and top notch service. The desserts were also sublime!

I was so delighted to enjoy a delicious dinner at the new gem of Chestnut Hill: Dohō. The beauty of this modern-fusion restaurant was so well done I wish I had dressed more classy. My friend and I enjoyed the crema and nori appetizer, and sweet potato tostones. We also enjoyed the rad noodles with shrimp, lamb shank, and sourdough bun. Our server, the bartender Huy, was superbly professional, and all staff were gracious and friendly-especially the GM Anders. I will be back! Loved it

We’ve been to doho twice since it opened a few weeks ago. By far the best restaurant/culinary experience in Mt. Airy. The staff are all very friendly and attentive—best of all is that it’s apparent that they enjoy working there. The individual dishes are very good! My only complaint with the food is that the menu flavors vary substantially (with either a strong mexican or strong asian twist) and don’t always pair well together. It feels like the cohesion of the menu is an afterthought, but it seems like it should be a main consideration—it’s a small plates restaurant so mixing and matching is required. It’s a bit jarring on the palette to transition from a salsa crudo appetizer, to a curry pasta, to a middle eastern lamb entree. Speaking of entrees, each time we have eaten there, the staff really hypes the lamb. The lamb is good, but it is similar to lamb shank dishes you would find at other restaurants. My main issue with the lamb being so hyped is that it really doesn’t fit in with the rest of the menu at all. The lamb has a pomegranate molasses/middle eastern flavor while everything else on the menu has a decidedly asian or mexican twist. The real star of the entree section in my opinion is their korean fried chicken—it’s a delicious dish that is well thought out and well balanced, and is the dish they are most known for from when they did takeout tacos. My recommendation is to skip the lamb in favor of the chicken. We look forward to returning to doho many times to come!

This a great addition to the anemic Mount Airy restaurant scene. Mostly small plates and pastas with a few mains. Everything was very tasty. Standouts for me were the sunchoke tarrine, the rad noodles and lamb ribs though all the other dishes we had were also good. The inside feels modern but cozy. The service is excellent. Glad to add this restaurant into the rotation.

Doho is proof that god loves mt.airy and wants us to be happy. It’s really long overdue to have a proper sit down restaurant in this part of West Mt Airy with cloth napkins, silverware, paper menus, etc… . My wife and dined here Thursday evening at 6:30. We couldn’t tell that the restaurant was even open. They have some sort of extremely dark tint on their glass which makes it look like the lights are not even on inside. There were a few patrons already there when we arrived, and within an hour the whole restaurant was full. We even saw a couple of our friends here which makes us love our neighborhood even more. We started off with drinks. I got the cherry tripel beer and my wife got the black manhattan cocktail. They were tasty. I would have liked if my beer was served in the appropriate goblet/chalice glass but that’s the nitpicky snob in me. This restaurant is one of those shared plates kind of places. I prefer a classic 3 course kind of meal with an app, main, and a dessert so my wife and I ordered two small plates, two large plates, and two desserts. The food was tasty. You can’t pin the menu down to one style of cuisine, it borrows from many. Our dishes were flavorful, and fragrant, and spicey. Anything but bland. The dishes are thoughtful and considered. It’s one of those restaurants where the chef’s name should be at the bottom of the menu. I’m surprised it wasn’t.
The service was lovely too. Someone greeted us when we entered, asked us for our reservation, and took us to our table. Our waitress explained the menu, answered our questions, filled our waters, and cleared our plates.
Overall, our experience was great. We’ll be back often. Hopefully all the new development in our neighborhood will provide the density needed to sustain these caliber of restaurants.

My wife and I went to Doho after having wanted to go for a while.
This place was SO GOOD. From the cocktails to the menu everything was great about it. The menu is European/Italian-Asian fusion. So basically they take things you might be familiar with and make delightful unique spins on them.
My favorite things were the ginger chicken buns, and the carrot cake. Both were absolutely amazing.
