So, we got the Philly Cheese steak, sorry it was dry, bread was hard, not juicy, pass. Not worth the money. My wife ordered the double patty smash burger! It was delicious. Recommended
What was crazy, it that it was over $100 for 2 shots, a beer, glass of wine, and food. Waaaay too expensive for really some upscale bar food. Too much. Great atmosphere at the bar with TV, sports.. overall we feel that the place seemed nice, clean, and pretty cool, but just way too expense to spend $112 for 2 people. Give it a try for yourself.
I got the Zip Smash Burger and seasoned fries and my grandson got the Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich with chips. Both were delicious! We also got a Strawberry Lemonade and Watermelon Lemonade and when we didn’t finish them, the server gave us fresh ones in small to-go cups. Above and beyond great service, in my opinion. We will certainly be back!
For the prices I expected a bit more though. For instance a bartender that doesn’t overpour. Some people may like that, but I’m not 21 and trying to get wasted anymore. I appreciate well crafted tasty cocktails. To be honest the cocktail menu was the entire reason we chose Dogwoods. I ordered the Ciderita and it tasted like straight tequila. I ended up with an espresso martini. Much better but still heavy handed on the vodka. Then there was the women’s bathroom. It had beautiful new fixtures, but wasn’t kept up or clean. I know this place used to be a coney or diner of sorts. It still feels that way. It’s been upgraded and remodeled but still has some of the cheap “you get what you get” feel to it.
I don’t know if I’d go in and sit down to eat again, but I would probably order carryout.
Unfortunately, all of the food was completely flavorless. My coworker and I ordered the Salmon Bowl—no flavor at all. Another coworker got the Creamy Bourbon Chicken, which tasted like plain Alfredo with no hint of bourbon. We also tried the Sushi Stack, which again had no flavor.
When we were ready to leave, we had to get up and find someone to help us. We finally found a busser, who went and got someone to bring us our bill. She was extremely rude, acting like we were an inconvenience. The opossite side (not the bar) was completely empty.
Overall, definitely not worth the price. We won’t be back. Attached is the receipt for reference.
Tonight, we had a variety of bad experiences.
We got two margarita flights. One of the flights came with a chipped glass, and then it took a long time to get help to replace.
We got the bang bang shrimp and the tuna tacos. The tuna in the tuna tacos seemed to be mixed with properly cut tuna and maybe ground tuna…it was weird.
Then we ordered the featured maple bourbon drink, but what came was a regular old fashion, and again, it took forever to fix. Even when the drink was fixed, a comment “we put extra maple syrup this time” was made. This is annoying being obviously, it was made with no maple syrup and not “too little”.
The smash burger was good. The fries showed with a lot of “deep fryer debris”. It looks like maybe there is a cleanliness issue here? I have a picture of the extra bits of stuff with the fries.
We got the short rib tacos and were disappointed that the meat had a heavy gravy. It doesn’t mix with the fresh ingredients of a taco. We would have complained, but again, service took so long to check on us that we gave up on more food. They did remove this from the bill, but my wife left hungry. She would have ordered a replacement but not after the wait.
Finally, we tried the pumpkin latte feature drink. Very sweet in the butterscotch and no coffee flavor. We decided not to complain, which meant it was just a waste.
There are lots of great places around. These things need to be spot on for our continued business.
It’s a shame because lots of potential at Dogwoods! I hope they tighten things up.
The service could be better but we had a new person who was learning the ropes so I will give grace.
