We visited Dogwood Tavern in Falls Church today for a family dinner with my wife, mom, and 26-month-old toddler. The ambiance is the real deal it has that old-school Irish pub charm, and the outdoor terrace is even better than the indoor seating. It’s a great spot for a lively afternoon.
The Starters
• Chicken Nachos: The seasoned chicken was a major highlight flavorful and tender. However, the cheese distribution was a bit uneven, leaving some chips quite bland. Still, our toddler loved them! (6/10)
• Calamari: Unfortunately, this was the weakest point of the meal. It was very greasy and felt oil-heavy. (2/10)
The Mains
• Double Decker Burger: This is clearly what they do best. The burger was perfectly seasoned, and the bacon-stuffed patty was a great size. Paired with those waffle fries, it’s a solid 10/10 recommendation.
• Chicken Gyro: A very strong second! The gyro was packed with meat, and the amount of sauce made it flavorful and satisfying.
• Mahi Mahi Tacos: The seasoning and sauce were excellent, which was lucky because the fish itself was very dry. The accompanying corn and tomato salad helped balance the plate.
Final Verdict
If you’re coming here, stick to the burgers and sandwiches we saw many other tables doing the same, and now we know why! It’s a 3/5 experience for us overall. We will definitely be back for a beer and a burger on that terrace, but we’ll be steering clear of the fish and fried appetizers next time

First time dining here and our experience was phenomenal. It wasn’t very busy but it was also 3pm on a weekday. Our waiter was friendly, attentive and overall provided us great service. The food was amazing. We ordered wings, Philly cheese steak, chimichurri steak sandwich, chicken tenders for our kids and of course dessert. The chimichurri steak sandwich was by far my favorite. The steak was soft, tender and the sauce added so much flavor. The wings were also delicious. They had a crispy texture and were full of flavor and great size. All our meals came with sides. They have various sides to choose from. The portions were great. Definitely enough to fill you up.

Dogwood is a popular spot any day of the week, but Tuesday nights really shine thanks to their Tuesday Night Raw Bar! If you’re craving a seafood fix, this is the place to be.
When I went, the service was excellent. The staff were incredibly attentive–at times, two or three team members checked in to make sure we were taken care of and never left with an empty glass. That said, I’ve also been on other Tuesdays when the bar was packed, and it took a little longer to get the bartenders’ attention. Just be patient–they’re working hard, and they’ll get to you.
The seafood is delicious, and the prices are hard to beat. If seafood isn’t your thing, no worries–the full menu is available with plenty of other options.

Nice place to take your family or meet friends, or watch football. Good options for kids. We tried philly cheesesteak and chicken finger (kid’s menue, called like “i’m not hungry!”). It was very good. The staff was responsive. We sat outside for a nicer weather. It was also lighter than inside.

Excellent spot and one of the best bars in the area. Open until 2am, it’s a great late-night option with an outstanding kitchen and consistently really good food. I’m a big fan of the burgers and the wings—both are always solid and satisfying.
They also have a rotating beer menu with a nice mix of options, including seasonal beers, which keeps things interesting. Overall, it’s just a really good bar with a great vibe and strong food to match. Highly recommend it to anyone in Falls Church—definitely a great spot.

This place has the second best buffalo chicken wrap in NOVA (a split hair behind Ragtime) only because the buffalo sauce at ragtime is a bit more rich in flavor. I can’t complain, I’ll eat a buffalo chicken wrap with tater tots here any day, any time.

Fabulous place to go to. My friend and I split nachos, a salad and a side and still went home with leftovers! Portions are large, food is delicious and service is on point.

We went for dinner on a Friday night and we’re very pleased with every part of the experience. Great food, good service in a clean and modern establishment. Our appetizers and meals were brought out to our table with no delays and tasted great. The salmon version of the “Clean Catch” meal was outstanding. The pretzel with beer cheese was excellent, but it is not what I would call a “fondue” of cheese as described in the menu. The beer cheese is in a small pill-cup size container with no source of heat. My only real critique is that water is provided at the table without ice. We asked our waiter for ice and he only filled one of our glasses with ice. All four of us would have liked ice water and it should be provided by default.

Servers got a little confused but we did arrive at the busiest time on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend, so I will give them a pass. Due to the packed house, we had to squeeze into a high top table that was really meant for the bar area with drinks. Serving up 4 meals on a small circular high top was a balancing act but we managed. Food was good and the sports bar theme was perfect for my my guy group. We stopped by for dinner before going to State Theater for a show. Dogwood Tavern was the perfect venue. This is going to be our yearly State show dinner spot.
