Defaulting to 18/22/25% tip for a restaurant that isn’t even close to full service is the killer for me. Won’t be back.
*Update 10.30.24 Today after a nice fall day outside I was starving after a long walk & the gym. I went to Dog Haus and got a Octoberfest Hot Dog and a Cali Burrito. Wow! The ingredients at this place, runny egg, crunchy tots just makes everything mesh on the burrito and the hot dog was amazing. Highly recommend this place. I usually eat here a couple times a month on my days off. It’s worth a little extra cost for a quality meal.
*Initial Review Overall I really enjoyed my experience here. When I approached the counter the young lady greeted me and I told I hadn’t decided on which burrito to try. I asked her for a recommendation. I went with The Mule which she stated was her favorite because it has jalapeño in it and avocado. I did notice that they had sweet potato fries which is a personal favorite of mine. I also got a fountain drink. She gave me a number and my cup and told me she would bring me the food when it was ready..
I would say between 5-10 mins she brought my food out and gave me some spicy mayo. Which was amazing. The burrito had some crunch with the over easy egg inside made it all so yummy. The fries had the right amount crunch. I was watching F1 qualifying on my phone while enjoying this yummy meal. The place was clean and the environment seemed lovely. Would definitely come back again for a burrito!
When I finished I thanked the lady at the counter for her recommendation. ☺️
I got 3 items, a burger, a dog, and cheesy tots.
The food was filling and tasty. I do believe drinking enhances this experience.
My gripe with them was that the service wasn’t there and when I picked up my order, the tots were sitting on their side, spilling in the box and bag. It left a bad taste for the place but I will give them a second try as they have a wide variety on their menu. My rating for them right now is eh.
Good for late night drunk food.
Your first order and pay for your food/drinks, and everything is brought to your table. We ordered T-Mex , Cowboy, and Sooo Cali with happy hour fries and tater tots. All beef dogs and sausages are hormone- and antibiotic-free on king’s Hawaiian rolls. SOOOO good!
Great selection of beers on tap as well as cocktails. I ordered a special margarita. Not only it was Texan approved but also pretty. 🙂
Now then, I did wait 30 minutes to enter Dog Haus. It is not something I’d do again unless there were free dogs on the line. A heads up, I had the Chili The Kid dog. The King’s Hawaiian rolls they use as buns are toasted and taste great – but there is too much breading for the filling. The chili was sparsely applied so that it’s most notable feature was spice; it was difficult to discern the flavor or texture of meat and beans. Also surprised that slices of cheese were used but that’s not really a plus or a minus. And then the dog itself was a tad too salty for me. Then again, maybe if I had a beer the salt of the dog would have played off that well.
Overall, a bit disappointed.
That said, I love the aesthetic going on here. You’ve got wooden tables and seating, tasteful neon lighting, chalk board menus on the wall, and sports on TV. Happy hour deals start early (3 pm) and are a good draw. Next time I’m in the area I’ll be trying their sausages in the hopes that they are more substantial than the hot dogs.
