I know they’re known for great steaks but I got the grilled chicken salad with the house dressing. It was delicious. The chicken was seasoned well, vegis were fresh, and the house dressing was flavorful.
Marlee (sp) our server was so sweet.
Overall it’s a cool place to visit. I’ll definitely visit again if ever in Jackson.

In short: Ridiculous prices for sub par food. The only good thing I have to say is the place itself was cool being an old converted Greyhound station and the story of how the restaurant came about was interesting. As for the food, there’s hardly anything on the menu for less than $25 – $30. My party got two steaks with their truffle fries and it was just terrible. Steaks were poor quality and seemed like they were cooked by a blind toddler. Just save yourself the hassle and go somewhere else.

Ribeye steak was one of the best that I’ve ever had. Macaroni was very bland and didn’t really have a good taste. The baked potatoes was good. The air was out when I went so it was very hot. Other than that the service & staff were great.

Adding 3% for a credit card fee is wrong. Understand the costs of doing business and that credit cards are not just a benefit of the consumer but also to the business as well. You’re charging like you’re a high end restaurant. I’m pretty sure the expensive food covered the 3%.
Server Joanna: Perfect
Ranch dressing: Great
Baked Potato: Superb
Steak: Good
Prices: High. Everything you get will be very good, but everything is priced higher than it should be.

Shout out to Doe’s Eat Place! The Alfredo Pasta was dynamic, and the Sirloin top notch cut. In addition, and even bigger shout out to Natalie. The service was impeccable !

Great food! Known for their steaks which are some of the best we have ever had. The atmosphere was nice with some really neat history from the greyhound bus and also from the original Doe’s eat place.
The food here is fantastic, maybe a little on the pricey end but it’s enough to share. Definitely worth the cost to have a nice dinner you won’t regret it

This was a hard three stars. The steak alone, I’d give an easy four – five if it was priced ~$12 less. This place has great potential however, there were several areas that fall short. 1. The bases of the tables have absolutely no business being in a restaurant. The bases are big, round, and they hurt when you slam your knee against them several times through dinner. Beware and stay cautious. 2. The food presentation is lacking. Your dinner and side items are served on two different plates or trays. Baked potato is too large for a small side plate. 3. Speaking of baked potatoes, very strange for a high-priced restaurant to provide sour cream in a packet and use low grade bulk shredded cheese. 4. The dining on the bar side is very loud with a modest number of people I’d suggest sound dampening materials for the walls and tablecloths. 5. The side salad that comes with your dinner is laughable at best. Chemical tasting lettuce out of a bag with tomatoes and croutons. 5. The meal was supposed to come with bread for the table – ours didn’t.
I will say that the filet was cooked perfectly and probably one of the best I’ve had in Jackson.
I hope management refines the ambiance and removes the cheap presentations and ingredients (fixings).

My wife took me to this nice restaurant for my birthday and we really enjoyed it. The old Greyhound bus station has been purchased and renovated into a very fancy eatery. The menu at lunch is somewhat less than the offerings at dinner but we still had a great experience. I partook of the fried catfish and sides, I thoroughly enjoyed it. They offer some great desserts, just travel on over to Jackson and try it soon!

We were excited to check out what they had done to our iconic art deco bus station. My wife and I were off on the same day so we decided to try Doe’s for lunch.
Murals and bus station memorabilia decorate the rooms giving it a retro yet comfortable feel.
We went for lunch so opted for salads. My wife got the steak and I got the grilled chicken. The greens were fresh and crispy with lots of bits added. I wanted a little something extra so we added an order of tamales. Good with a nice kick. Same with the chili.
Overall a great experience. A little pricey, esp for lunch, but a great meal. And of course, extra points (and kudos) for a wonderful atmosphere!

BEST STEAK IN JACKSON, TN.
I think some folks miss the point of Doe’s Eat Place. It’s a no frills restaurant focused on good tamales and GOOD steaks. Coupled with its charming backstory, I would rate this place a 12/10.
I heard a rumor that the owner came down and changed management up recently. I’d like to challenge all the nay sayers to give this place another shot.
Service was phenomenal. I loved my salad, my baked potato was on point, the tamales and chili were soooo good, and my filet mignon was THE BEST STEAK I’VE HAD IN JACKSON, TN.
I don’t understand why people complain about the pricing. Sure, I can pay $12 less at another restaurant, but I’m not eating fresh-cut prime meat there. Take my $12 more and give me a REALLY GOOD STEAK.
Thanks, Doe’s. You fed us well!
