I have had 4 experiences with this specific Dodge’s. My mother has terminal lung cancer and had a stroke a few weeks ago, and she’s been asking me to bring her a biscuit to the hospital because she hates the hospital food they serve her (can you blame her?). My first 2 experiences were good. The ladies working here do a pretty good job with making you feel welcomed and with handling customers, which primarily is serving people at the cash register. My 3rd and 4th trips were not as good, which is the reason, for my rating.

On my third trip, I stopped at the gas pump to get gas and entered the store while the gas was pumping to buy my usual 2 biscuits (one for Ma/ one for me) and an energy drink, which comes out to $12.73. After I scanned my debit card and input my PIN, some sort of error message came up at the register, and the cashier told me she couldn’t complete my transaction because it didn’t go through. She told me not to worry and that I wouldn’t be charged. The problem was also happening on the other registers. No big deal, although I was disappointed that I could not make my purchase. I left the items and returned to my truck to head to the hospital. When I got back to my truck, I checked my bank account because I wanted to see if the gas was charged to my account, and I wanted to make sure I wasn’t charged for the biscuits and drink. The account showed both charges as “pending” along with other charges I had made over the past 2 days. I went back into the store to show the cashier that I was charged for the food, showing her the charges on my phone, and she looked at it and told me the charge was only “pending,” and it would not come out of my account. I asked her if she’s sure about that, and she said yes. I didn’t want to make a big deal about it, so I left. I figured that if I were actually charged for it, I’d be back in Jackson in a few days, and we could address it then.

Today (1 week after the 3rd visit), I made my fourth (and likely final) visit to the store to get my typical order, and to inform the cashiers that I was in fact charged for food I did not receive during my previous visit last week. I got my usual drink and asked for 2 biscuits, and as they were getting it, I explained the situation to the cashier telling her and her manager (both of whom were there last week when I came) that I already know the total would come out to $12.73 before she even scanned the items because I was charged for it last week when their system crashed after I made my purchase. I had it pulled up on my phone to show them. Without looking at it, the manager said I had to have it printed out for her in order to dispute the charge. I paid for my items and left.

And that’s that, I guess. I didn’t rate the cashiers 1-star because at no point did they yell or act disrespectful or unprofessional with me, and like I said, prior to this visit I’d had positive experiences with the store. My low rating is due to the fact that I paid for food that I did not receive, and I think this could have been easily corrected had the ladies examined my phone to see the date and the charge, and given me the items I had purchased. The principal is the issue for me, not the $12.
