Doc’s Fish & Steak in Garland City is hands-down one of the best hidden gems in Arkansas. The moment you walk in, you get that warm, hometown feel that you just can’t fake. The staff treats you like family, the service is quick, and the food… unreal.
The catfish is fried perfectly — crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and seasoned just right. The shrimp is fresh and flavorful, the hushpuppies are addicting, and even the sides taste like someone’s grandma made them with love. If you’re a steak person, their ribeye is cooked exactly how you ask and comes out juicy every single time.
This is the kind of place you go to once, and instantly know you’ll be back. Worth every minute of the drive and every dollar spent. If you want a real Southern meal done right, Doc’s is the spot. Highly recommend!

As a passer by not being from the south. I found this place driving up 82. Being a black man I was nervous pulling up to this establishment. But the food, service and atmosphere was good. Thank you to the waitress and the owners for the great service and all you can eat catfish that feed my family. I will return in the future……

I’ve been 3 times and I really want it to be good, but it’s just not. The steak has zero flavor, just need salt and pepper, fries are soggy, jumbo shrimp are mealy. Boiled shrimp have decent flavor, but they are tiny and over cooked. For $20/person I would expect more.
Whole catfish and catfish fillets are the only thing I would go back for.
