I come home from school in Iowa about 2x a year. I make it a point to visit Dockside for a Reuben when I can. Great atmosphere, view, service and food.

We have been to this restaurant numerous times in the past. Apparently there is “new management” Disappointed with this visit. In the past we could make a reservation for the two of us and sit by the window and watch the beautiful sights along the river. With the “new management” there has to be a party of five or more to make a reservation. Don’t understand why “five”? The waitress was great. The problem was, my wife’s food came out cold. The meat was hot, the sides were not. Katie, our server, did take care of it. Will have to rethink our restaurant choice to sit by the river. Thought we had a good one here.
By the way, the boat ride on the “Lady Bea’ was delightful. Just have to find a new place to eat afterwards.

My husband and I tried the new Boathouse. We grabbed a quick app and drink for lunch. The spicy pineapple margarita was great. We shared an order of buffalo tenders and were very disappointed in the fact there were only 4 small tenders. They were good, but not for $10. The lady next to us had BBQ tenders and there was basically a mound on her plate. We inquired with the bartender and she told us she thought 4 was average, but the lady right next to us counted 8 on her plate as she was eating them. It was obvious, we did not have an equivalent portion whatsoever. We want to like it! We want to loyal customers! But it’s been so hard when it’s clearly still inconsistent.

This is my family’s first time eating at Dockside. Waiter was friendly but had too many other tables so was not as attentive as we would have liked. We sat in the center of the restaurant because of the size of our group. Being lower and away from the windows was a draw back for me. It felt like I was in a cafeteria. Food was good but not great. I Would try it again.

We loved the “old Dockside”. We keep coming back to the new Dockside hoping things will change. We love the atmosphere. The waitresses are very nice. But the food and the menu………..Trying to be too upscale is not doing the business any good. Would be nice if they went back to the pub-style menu. Our shrimp was mushy, our French fries were mushy. There are a lot of people coming to the restaurant but you’d have many more if some things changed.

Food was very good (we had shrimp cocktail, tuna with pineapple salsa special, and shortrib, our son had a cheeseburger) and reasonably priced (one app, two entrees, the burger and 4 beers was $79). Very good local and micro brew selection with all the regulars, too. Our sever and hostess were attentive and pleasant. The space is very open and so it can get a bit loud. The night we went there was live music that was quite good. We went in the winter, so it was dark and cold, but I’m sure in the summer it’s nice with the view of the river. This was our first time, and I definitely would return.

Nice list of beers and good food without a long wait. Server was friendly albeit a bit over the top. Space is big and has little atmosphere – good for large get-togethers but not for something more intimate.

Waitress was very friendly and the atmosphere was really nice,but he service was slow,and a bit bizarre! We had apps, and the waitress informed us that the salads that came with our meals were unavailable (garden salads). When I asked that we be comped one appetizer, the waitress was so afraid to tell management that she took $10 from her pocket for our check!! I noticed other tables getting salad without lettuce in it, just cucumber, tomato, onion and celery.
I tipped her 20% because I liked her and it was not her fault, but something bizarre is going on here.

Previously, I have given very goid reviews for the restaurant. This time, we had a different experience. First of all, even though it wasn’t crowded, the service was slow. The server apologized and was very good otherwise. The shrimp, scallop and lobster pesto scampi was terrible. There wasn’t any pesto. Not a hint of green. Instead of being made with fresh basil, it had dried basil. Hence, the lack of green color. Instead of having a taste of garlic, it was very starchy. A very disappointing dish and overpriced.
As always, the chowder was excellent. If you would cut back on the salt a little, more people might eat it.
We will be back and give it another try.

It was good but not good enough for the prices on the menu. We wanted a steak and there was no steak on the menu only beef tips. When they arrived they we’re so hard it was hard to bite into it. I must say I won’t be going again. There are better restaurants with better menu and prices around then this place.
