It’s my daughter’s birthday – and Mara (the hostess) made her a PERSONALIZED birthday card based on her interests (beach & cats) and Chris (our server) overheard she likes chocolate and surprised her with chocolate ice cream. Such kind people – and their attention to detail made her special day so special
We brunch with Patrick who absolutely nailed every point of service. And while the avocado toast with added smoked salmon is insanely ridiculous expensive, it is also amazingly good and totally worth it. No regrets.
We had dinner with Ethan, who made sure that even when a questionable shrimp roll was delivered he corrected the situation immediately.
The pool restaurant was closed one of the days that we were there, and we did take out from dockside, while they were not super ready for the system to go into place. It seemed… Mara made every effort to ensure that our order was exactly what we needed
The thing about dioxide is, it’s an absolutely fantastic on-site restaurant option that serves three meals a day. Is it expensive? Yes. But you also have a stunning view of the dock exceptional service and fantastic food. So is it worth it? Absolutely. We liked it so much. We bought a $40 T-shirt with the name on it from the gift shop.
If you find yourself at the resort and you’re thinking, oh gosh, I’m really hungry, just go to dockside. Problem solved.
The vibe is chic nautical without being stuffy, and the service was genuinely five-star: attentive, friendly, and perfectly paced.
Dockside 1953 has nailed the perfect happy hour formula: **breathtaking location + elevated food specials + excellent drinks.** It is the ideal spot to unwind, impress a date, or simply treat yourself after a long day. I will absolutely be back. Shout out to Sherrie she was an outstanding host.
The food was quite good overall. I ordered the Morning Bowl twice as a healthier option and really enjoyed it. That said, service was a bit slow—my meal took about 30 minutes to arrive, and oddly, my colleague received his bill before his food. While the server seemed a bit confused by the situation, they were courteous and quickly checked in with the kitchen to sort things out.
On one visit, I also tried their tequila-based Bramble cocktail from the full bar inside—it was excellent!
While I’m not sure I’d return unless I was staying on the property and had room credit, it’s definitely a solid dining option if you’re at the resort.
Service was amazing – Celeste was attentive without being too nosy. She catered to our entire meal with perfect timing of check-ins.
The food was so good. Every request for done was was followed to the letter. Well done to the chefs for presentation as well.
Drinks were delicious. Wine and drinks were perfectly paired.
We sat outside on the patio and it was beautiful weather. Atmosphere is relaxing.
When I’m back in San Diego again, I’m going back!
