Their crab cakes are delicious! And the view of the lighthouse makes you feel like you’re in a world away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life. They have lots is seafood dishes (Chicken Chesapeake is a favorite of mine) as well as lots of others tasty menu items and specials.
It is so serene on the water there. It’s a great place for a date night or to just hang out. Indoor and outdoor seating abounds. There’s a playground there for the kids, too. Located on Miller’s island it’s convenient to most places yet it’s far away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
It’s a local watering hole that might impress the locals, but it’s nothing special in my opinion. I was here for a party and the atmosphere is very drab inside, but I still had a good time. The food was decent, and the crab cakes were excellent, with no filler at all, but the burger sliders were dry and the jerk chicken was more pepper flavor than true jerk flavor. Service was okay and it does offer a nice spot on the water, so that’s very appealing. Overall, I’d go back again if ever in the area and I’m invited, but it’s not exactly on my short list to go back on my own.
A picture of my cocktails for your enjoyment!!
So why five stars? Bc it’s worth the wait! Not only is it to be expected that a reasonably-priced seafood restaurant on the water would be busy on a holiday, despite the chaos our waitress could not have been sweeter (and as my husband and I were paying the bill she, without our asking, kindly helped my MIL pack up her leftovers bc she noticed her hands are a bit weak and she was struggling). I wish I caught her name so she could get a shoutout she deserves!
We were lucky to have a beautiful day and loved sitting by the water watching the ducks as we chatted and waited for our food. And the food? Amazing! My MIL wanted to come here for the stuffed mushrooms and they did not disappoint. We also got some calamari, which has a nice, flavorful breading and some cream of crab soup. My MIL said her crabcake was all crab no filler, and I enjoyed my crabby patty. I will say my husband didn’t love his sandwich (it was highlighted on the menu as a popular choice, but the shrimp/chicken/pepper/cheese combo didn’t quite jive). That aside, we had a great meal, in a great location, with great service from our server, so despite the awful delay from the holiday rush, I’d say it was a perfect place to celebrate and will be back!
Husband was all about it but me and our daughter wasn’t. Got a sense it wasn’t going to be the best when the table behind us had an issue with their food. Crab pretzel was ehh; pretzel was cold half way through on the bottom. I got rockfish dinner which the fish was just ok; the side was supposed to be fried rice – idk what kind of rice that was and tasted off/was just rice with eggs in it so got another side that took forever to come out. Husband meal was ok – the sides were the best part; the fried seafood was just ok.
While waiting for dinner just felt like on an episode of Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmares.
I had the wings…extra crispy…and they were cooked just the way I like them and were fantastic. Now…let’s get to the cream of crab my husband had. Tasted like lukewarm milk. Not even hot. Very disappointed. The location of this restaurant is great. Plenty of parking. Also has an outdoor seating area. The owners have a cash cow sitting there but it looks like it’s not maintained. Walked in the door and one of the glass windows cracked. The outside walkway was full of cigarette butts. The menus are falling apart and the windows looking out over the water are disgustingly dirty. Save your money on food and just go for the drinks.
Watch the birds or fish jumping out of the water. They have daily specials. They have seafood and other things.
Prices are decent. Waitresses, and servers are very good. They have a pier to walk out and look at the water.
