First time eating here. Local hangout. Seating mostly full at the time for breakfast. Located at 207 23rd Street, Virginia Beach.
We were immediately seated and the waitress brought us water and coffee. We ordered a steak and egg breakfast and a veggie omelette with a side of hash brown potatoes.
The steak had a slight old taste, however it was cooked right. The veggie omelette turned out to be a south western omelette. Plus the hash brown potatoes didn’t arrive with the meal. Had to flag the waitress down. Wasn’t a great experience, but everyone has a less than good day sometime or another.

We came here because our first choice was very busy. We made a GREAT decision by default.
This restaurant is located in a building that was once a hotel and later a doctor’s office. The exterior hada “Key West” kind of vibe.
We arrived just after 9 a.m. on a Friday morning and the dining room was almost full. We paid for parking before we realized they had a private parking lot.
Nigel was our server and was amazing!
Our party of 6 ordered omelets, pancakes, eggs and hash browns and eggs Benedict. Everyone was thrilled with their food. The coffee as food and hot, and Nigel never let it get empty.
I highly recommended Doc Taylor’s for a great breakfast!

Finding Doc Taylor’s wasn’t the easiest—tucked away and a little tricky to spot—but once we stumbled across the parking lot and saw the “Parking for Doc Taylor’s” we found our way. Once we stepped inside, it was worth it.
Our server, Heidi, was excellent—friendly, full of menu knowledge, attentive, and kept things moving with a smile. The coffee came out dark and strong (exactly how it should be), and the $3.50 breakfast cocktails are an absolute steal. The Screwdriver was a great way to start a day of sightseeing.
I went with the biscuits & gravy. The portion was huge. Heidi shared the gravy isn’t just homemade, it’s made fresh to order. It was thick enough to stick to the fork, but not firm or clumpy. I would’ve loved just a bit more seasoning. A side of bacon sealed the deal—crispy, salty perfection. The eggs Benedict were ooey gooey perfection, as well!
The vibe is cozy, with a local, off-the-beaten-path feel. Doc Taylor’s is the kind of place you’re glad you tracked down.

Great breakfast. This is one if those places you get what you pay for!!! The Biscuits and Gravy was pretty good. Steak was amazing and the atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. We felt like we were at a friend’s house. I would absolutely recommend this place. Parking is a bit hidden but there is street parking, and if you know VB, every spot is a metered spot.

The place is a house without any signs.
The service was good and the food was delicious.
I ordered a short stack of sweet potato pancakes, and a biscuit and grave both were pretty good. I highly recommend . I came back this summer I was surprised because the restaurant was closed Tuesday through Thursday I only visited once this time around.

My Doc Taylor’s Restaurant experience is very interesting. I grow up at the Virgina Beach Oceanfront. I remembered Seaside Amusement Park, The Virginia Beach Dome, and a two story pink motel. That pink motel is now Doc Taylor’s Restaurant. I first noticed Doc Taylor’s restaurant when I was young riding my bike. I saw groups of people on the front porch and lined up on the side of the two story white building. I thought it was some sort of family gathering. To my surprise they were waiting to eat breakfast and maybe order a Bloody Mary in this cottage style restaurant. I was anxious to eat at Doc Taylor’s. I usually order The Left Side, Doctor Tuttle’s French Toast, or Curry’s Irish Corned Beef Hash. They have great lunch menu options. The food and service is excellent. Located on 23rd Street on Pacific Avenue. Parking located in the rear.

We stopped here for some breakfast before our day out in VB. We were very lucky enough to get to sit at the bar. They were very busy! I really enjoyed watching all the cooks in the kitchen. The chocolate chip pancakes were so good!!! My bf had the French toast, and he said it was really good too! I highly recommend stopping by here! They have amazing food and service!

The food was not what I was expecting due to all the 4 and 5 star ratings. I got the heart attack meal and my wife had the breakfast burrito my the steak was over cooked and and my wife had egg shells inside of her burrito. Waiting to be seated was fairly quick but the wait for a waiter to offer us coffee or water took too long and it wasn’t even busy.

My first time coming here. All the times I’ve been to Virginia Beach and I didn’t know that it was right there in plain sight. If you didn’t know it was there you would miss it. It’s a little house right in the middle of the block, but when you walk inside it greets you with a powerful punch. It was pretty busy inside today for a Saturday, but we were seated pretty quick. The menu has a lot to choose from and also the prices are very reasonable. I ordered the heart attack and it was very good. You also get large portions of food also. I would definitely come here again and again. The server was very attentive and also remembered everything we ordered without writing one thing down. Great service.
