I visited Doc Crow’s Southern Smokehouse and Raw Bar for lunch with a group of six, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. The restaurant is quite spacious, making it a great spot for a mid-day group meal without feeling cramped. I tried the Dixie Chicken, and it was excellent—perfectly seasoned and juicy. One of the highlights for our table was the optional bourbon honey on the side, which added a delicious sweet-and-smoky kick to the meal.

The lunch service was fast and attentive, which we really appreciated given our party size. Beyond the food, the atmosphere in this renovated historic building on Whiskey Row is very cool, with walls lined with an incredible selection of bourbon bottles. It’s a solid choice for a high-quality lunch in downtown Louisville. Highly recommend the Dixie Chicken if you’re looking for Southern comfort food

I made dinner reservation for Doc Crow’s weeks ahead since they were really popular. Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were taken to our table right away. The space was huge inside. We had to take a long walk to get to our table. They had a huge bar near the entrance. The dining area where we sat down was so impressive, with all the liquor bottles going all around the walls.

We started with the fried oysters. The quantity and the taste of the dish was underwhelming to me, especially for the price of $28. For entree I got the beef brisket. Took them about 20 minutes to bring it out. The brisket had no sauce to it, the plain pieces of meat looked so sad, with couple of pieces of onion and pickles just thrown on top. The onion wasn’t even a full piece, lol! The broccoli that came as side dish was actually much better. My family ordered the Mac & Cheese and Doc’s tacos. Both were decent dishes.

Our server was nice and friendly, did her job well. The restaurant was packed, meaning they were a popular spot for locals. But overall the food and dining experience fell short of my expectations.

I have to be honest about this place. I have ate here four times and I just can’t get into it! Let me say the service is phenomenal! Always is! Our service Darius was excellent. Hence the 5 stars for service. My friend and I had two WDRB $50 gift certificates that we paid $25 a piece for. They were expired and Doc Crow’s agreed to honor the purchase amount. Thank you Doc Crow’s. I am an oyster connoisseur and while the oysters tend to be smaller they are good. The oysters were $6 a piece! Last night I tried the pulled pork sandwich with Mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese taste like kraft with smoked Gouda in it. The pulled pork was barely warm and no smoke flavor. I ask Darius to replace the Mac and cheese which he did but the fries aren’t the best either. I have had the jambalaya and the gumbo before and not impressed. I’ll definitely be back for the oysters and the nightlife scene…but the food leaves so much to be desired!

I went to Doc Crows looking for a mint julep in the winter. The service was great, the vibe was great and our server, Jade, took great care of us. The remoulade sauce served with the pickles and fried okra was so good that I decided to get a Po Boy. Anything we got that was fried was cooked perfectly! If we are ever in the area, I would definitely go again.

We just tried this restaurant on the spur of the moment and couldn’t have been happier. The food was excellent. You can look at their menu online and see how reasonable prices are. We didn’t drink any alcohol, but they still gave us a tour of the place and explained all the different bottles. If you like bourbon, ask if they will show you around. Some of the nicest workers I have encountered. It was my friends birthday and it’s one he will remember forever.

Some of the most solid BBQ I’ve had in Louisville. Plates are decently priced. Service was phenomenal. Restaurant was loud, but could still carry a conversation, just with raised voices. Our favorites were the roasted chicken, mac and cheese, and seasoned fries.

Came here for breakfast. We had the entire place to ourselves. Such a cool place. Will come back for dinner before we leave town. I had a. Omelet with home fries. The fries were perfectly seasoned. The omelet had no seasoning.

Doc Crow’s on Whiskey Row does not mess around. Biggest whiskey selection in town? Check. Nachos with a twist? Double check. My wife was craving nachos, and their “Heap ’n Chips” (think nachos but with house-made potato chips or even fries) more than satisfied.

I went for the fried chicken platter—smoked first, then fried—and it was perfection alongside some creamy mac and cheese. Toss in a round of fresh oysters, and I was in heaven. We finished with Derby Pie, which I’d strongly suggest saving room for—it’s worth every bite.

The place is spacious but still cozy, lively but not too loud. And the service? Our server Derek K. deserves an award. He kept our teas topped without us asking, gave great suggestions, and had the timing down perfectly. If every place had a Derek, dining out would be flawless.

Bottom line: Doc Crow’s delivers—on food, whiskey, and service.

The bar is a nice place with a great atmosphere. The service was top notch. I would have to say the meal was just okay. I enjoyed it but I guess I was expecting more. I had the sampler plater and the baked beans. The brisket, sausage and the baked beans were great. The ribs were just ok and not overly warm. Overall a good meal just thought it would be spectacular. I had BBQ in KC last year and it wasn’t in the same league.

5/5. Made my first visit on a Saturday afternoon and was very satisfied . The place is huge with plenty of seating and space . We were seated immediately . Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable and also informed us they held the 2nd biggest whiskey collection in America at this location.

We started with popcorn shrimp for the appetizer which was good and seasoned well. She ordered the DOC’S CHICKEN hot fried with a side of macaroni and cheese . I’m so the chicken is smoked and then fried and it had a unique flavor and tasted good dipped in the bourbon honey provided. The Mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful

I order the Jambalaya and an order of onion rings. The onion rings were decent but the Jambalaya may have been one of the best I’ve ever had . The sweet tea was good and so was her cocktail. I recommend visiting this place and I’ll be back for sure. It’s a menu full of variety that you’ll need multiple visits to try
