If you stepped into a time machine and went back to 1950, what would you find? If you’re like most of America, you’d probably envision classic cars cruising down the center of town, houses with pristine lawns and white fences, and leather jackets and poodle skirts. And you’d be right. It’s also when DJ’s Drive In, a local ice cream parlor turned diner, opened its doors to the Floyd, VA, community, quickly becoming a mainstay for families and youth to come together and savor the taste of simpler times. Today you can enjoy all your comfort food favorites, made fresh, along with the same upbeat, welcoming vibe that brought in our very first customers. Stop by the little burgundy building for a delicious dose of nostalgia.

Stopped today, first time. Oh my goodness. My burger was absolutely delicious, crisp lettuce, perfect tomato and the right amount of mayo. It was the best burger I’ve had in a long time. The fries were perfect also. My husband had the pizza burger and loved it. We drive through all the time but have never stopped. Well I’ll be back to try more things because dang, it was good. THANK YOU! I was hungry and didn’t get pictures but I ate every last bite. The service was FAST & FRIENDLY.

This restaurant is the pillar on which I hope Floyd stands proud. Not only is the food out of this world good, locals frequent this place every week, which says kudos to good service, great food and an establishment everyone is proud of. It’s an original — sticking to its roots, yet listening to its brothers and sisters with such a menu!!! Blown away! The cooks do it right and the ladies who run a hundred miles a day serving the trucks, cars & motorcycles, well their energy should be bottled! If you haven’t had the pleasure yet, I hope you will soon!

I was out working and saw a sign that advertised a “Thanksgiving burger.” I decided I’d like to stop by later on my way home and give it a try. So I stopped in a few hours later and asked about the advertised burger. A burger with a deep fried turkey and stuffing patty, Swiss cheese, and cranberry aoli. I have to admit I was a little skeptical about the cranberry aoili, but I gave it a try. It’s delicious and absolutely worth it. It tasted like Thanksgiving crammed into a burger. I love weird and new taste experiences, and this hit the spot. My only gripe is that they only accept cash tips. I don’t usually carry cash and really wanted to tip the employee who came out to take my order.
I won’t say it’s the best burger I ever had, but it was weird and wonderfully delicious, which I love. I plan to stop in at every opportunity, and next time, I will make sure to have some cash for the waitstaff that deserves it.

Edited: I came back the 3rd day for an egg sandwich with bacon. So so good. Perfect place for good food on the go! Loved everything I tried! Original: was in the mood for something a little lighter than a hamburger so I had the club one day and it was so good I came back the next day for the BLT. Both very, very tasty and very affordable. I rarely have sandwiches that look this good by the time I get back to a picnic area! The vegetables were crisp and full of flavor, and the bread was perfectly toasted. I ordered online and it was ready by the time I got there. Had to drive around for a few minutes as the parking lot was full, but it wasn’t really that big a deal. You park in a lot and they bring out your food or you can go in and get it like I did the second day. Great staff and good food. Will definitely be back when I’m in the area.

not dried out, burger had lots of flavor. First time here and it won’t be my last. So happy to have another delicious place locally to eat.

All I’ve heard about was how good DJ’s Drive In was since we moved here. Food is great and many if their items are made in-house, such as their honey butter, mac & cheese, and some other items.
We got our order exactly the way we ordered it and it is the first time in my life the meat was hot and the onion and tomato was ice cold. Excellently done!
Abby was our car hop and she was running the show and bussing orders like it was not a big deal. She was super friendly and exact on our orders. Such a nice thing to see someone with an eye for detail running the orders as she was.
There is a purity to Floyd that you cannot find in any place bombarded by the franchise machines and Floyd has it with DJ’s Diner. Comfort food in a comfortable environment. We will be back and so happy to have stopped in!

My girlfriend and I ate here 3 times during our stay in Floyd. The building looks awesome, the owner is super nice, and the food is tasty and reasonably priced. If you’re in the area definitely check this place out.
