Fantastic lobster roll

Perhaps the star might be The Fish & Chips since it was sold out by late noon…

The cheeseburger is also delicious and will give any franchise a run for their money.

Order at cashier, take a seat at a table and the food will be brought to you.

Polite service with a well organized kitchen dishing out meals steadily

What does the “DJ’s” in
DJ’s Clam Shack mean?
I no…Done Just right!
Yep this place has got the lobster roll down pat, it’s Done Just right, imo.
Warm is the way to go and our regular size was well packed with a nice mix of tender and sweet lobster chunks over a toasted buttery bun, just so good.
One less star for the atmosphere because inside seating is limited and kinda like eating in a ” shack”. Oh yeah this is a clam shack. lol.
Also why a service fee to use a credit card?
But remember the most important thing is the lobster rolls are
“Done Just” right!
Enjoy!

The best part was the service and reception from the fellas. Other than that, mid at best. Table wasn’t clean when we sat down. The clam chowder was a bit too salty and the lobster roll was mushy. Not worth the trip from NYC. Will not be coming back.

Finding decent conch or conch fritters in the NYC-area has been an exercise in futility, so when I saw a post on their social media account advertising conch fritters I figured I needed to see how they stack up.

We arrived around 7 on a Saturday night and, to my surprise, we were the only customers. The parking lot was full and we had to circle the block before finding a spot, but there are a few pubs in the area.

My companion was eager to try their hot buttered lobster roll and placed their order before I could finish looking at the menu board. I asked whether their calamari is served with rings and tentacles and was told that they only serve rings. Although it’s not scientific, that’s my method of determining whether they’re serving fresh or frozen calamari. Like I said, it’s not a scientific method and I’m sure it’s extremely flawed. Besides, I kinda’ like the tentacles. I asked for an order of conch fritters and was told that they were unavailable and they hadn’t had them for the past 2-3 days. That was disappointing. The employee at the counter was patient while I decided what I wanted to eat and answered our questions about the beverages in the cooler.

I rarely order lobster rolls because I feel that I can usually find something as flavorful on any menu for ten dollars less, but on this night I decided to treat myself.

We ordered two of the hot buttered lobster rolls and a soda. The “market price” rolls were priced at $28 each on this night, but I will say that they were stuffed with lobster. The piece resting atop my roll was the largest piece of claw meat that I’d ever seen outside of an actual lobster claw. My meal came with a sample-sized serving of cole slaw in a shot glass-sized plastic cup. My companion received a heaping serving of french fries with their meal. I don’t see any reason for them to skimp on the slaw, but oh well. It was tasty.

The lobster roll was… okay. The bread was soft and buttery and sadly had more flavor than the actual lobster. We both felt that the lobster meat could’ve used something more… like seasoned butter, Old Bay… just something else. The sandwich was filling, but didn’t leave us feeling satisfied.

After walking to the front to dump our trays and stack our used bowls, we walked past the three employees sitting around and looking at their personal devices. Not one person looked up or mumbled a “goodnight” or “thanks for stopping by.” This caught my attention but I decided not to say anything to my companion, but they also noticed and mumbled to me, “Not even a ‘good night’?”

I’d return just to try the conch fritters.

Just can’t get enough of lobster rolls. My travels took me djsclamshackwantagh after a very pleasant day at Jones Beach. I’ve been to this location twice and if it was closer to home, I’d go a lot more often in this summer.

Delectable warm roll, kung pow , baked clams and New England clam chowder. A meal fit for a and my .

A late summer’s night to dine outdoors before the ☀️ set.

For the amount of lobster you get it’s a very reasonable price under $30. I believe it’s 26 or $28. I can’t recall.

The calamari was fried perfectly with sweet chili sauce. On a previous visit we ordered the bake stuffed clams. They rivaled my Italian American grandfathers. That’s how good they were.

I went for a lobster roll and I enjoyed the lobster roll very much so. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Limited menu and not a restaurant environment. Nice folks and pretty damn good lobster roll ohhh and the Sweet potato fries are awesome….the maple mayo is pretty damn good too. Would I go back absolutely

Summer on Long Island means lobster rolls!! We were need of adventure and looking for things to do outdoors during the pandemic so headed to the Massapequa Preserve for a morning hike which left us hungry. I had read about nearby Lobster roll options and convinced the gang to go to DJ’s. There is no ordering ahead so one of our crew waited on line to order. Given the beautiful summer weather people were out so there was a 15-20 min wait. All social distancing rules were followed and the staff was very nice. We ordered both the hot and cold lobster rolls – we didn’t go for the extra stuffed versions. Then ate our goodies in the car. These were DELICIOUS!! We couldn’t decide whether we liked the hot or cold more. The roll was perfectly toasted and buttery. There was plenty of lobster meat so no need for the overstuffed in my opinion. Completely worth the drive and the wait. We will definitely be back.

Came here for the first time and took other reviewers suggestions and came at an off time. Glad we did because there was a steady stream of customers. The food was fabulous. Fast, hot and delicious. I usually only can find and enjoy Ipswich whole belly clams in Florida and a couple of places on LI , but this place had the most tender Ipswich that I ever had. Totally sublime. And conch fritters here too! Really yummy but wish a little more conch was in them. The lobster roll was stuffed with big chunks of lobster. You can get it hot or cold. It was very impressive. The staff was great. The “ sauces” were all delicious and we tried them all!
