Dizzy Whizz has been serving the famous Whizzburger in Old Louisville for more than 70 years and still retains some traditions from the 1940s and 1950s with curbside service and counter seating. In addition to fast breakfast meals, burgers, sandwiches and soups, there is a dairy bar that offers shakes, sundaes, banana splits, novelty ice cream treats and pies.
Enduring American diner turning out double-decker hamburgers, french fries & milkshakes.

Cheap food. I just feel like maybe they are not on the best area so might not get all mu h traffic as they should. Food was delicious for what you pay and the prices are very reasonable. Biscuits and gravy were a double order.

My first time eating here was today. I was in town visiting family and we decided to come here and try it out. Pulling up to park the car hop service doesn’t start until 11am per the signage. We did go inside to place our order. And we did have to walk through a group of people on the outside who appeared to be selling some other items and other people may have been homeless or possible druggies. Customer service was great though, and after we had ordered our food and went back to our car.Someone from the inside did come outside and ask the group of people to get off the premises. Food was cooked relatively fast and was fresh and very hot. I have no complaints, it was good.

Friendly service and great food — that’s why they’ve been in business since 1947.
Two smash burgers, fries and a peanut butter shake❤️. It’s a place made for Friday nights!

Found this place while on vacation driving through the Old Louisville neighborhood to see the architecture. The place was hopping when we got there, which is always a good sign. They have both a small interior with some seating and a window to order food as well as in car ordering. We opted for the drive in experience. A sweet lady came to our car and patiently took our order on a tablet. About 10 minutes later, we had our food. It was pretty good- not amazing, but hot and fresh. My grilled chicken sandwich was a bunch with mayo and a pickle and chicken. Chicken was well seasoned and cooked. Dd enjoyed her burger. Fries were hot and tasty. Salt on the side, so remember to look for the salt for optimum flavor. We enjoyed our experience- mostly the service. It was also inexpensive.

The quarter lb deluxe is fantastic and cheap, and beats McDonalds by a mile. Also the best banana milkshake I’ve ever had. Their menu is “extensive” in the best way possible. Their fish/big fish sandwiches are killer and is a real piece of fish unlike some other places. Their signature is like a much better version of a bigmac without the random sweetness in the Mac sauce. Seriously love this place, and it’s cheap

Dizzy Whizz is honestly my favorite burger stop in town. I keep coming back, and it just feels like home.
You have to try the Gut Buster. The whole thing just works. What makes it special is that they add a grilled, sliced sausage on top of the beef patties. It sounds simple, but that mix of the juicy burger and the savory sausage is perfect. It’s a hearty meal, but somehow it never feels like too much.
The whole experience is part of the charm. You pull into a spot, and someone walks right out to your car to take your order. No intercoms, no confusion—just a quick, friendly chat. It’s a classic system, and it works. This place has been doing it this way for decades, and you can tell they’ve got it down.
For the price, you really can’t beat it. The food is always solid, the vibe is genuine, and that Gut Buster is a true standout. Can’t recommend it enough.

Got a whizz burger basket with fries/cole slaw, really good burger. Fries were okay, I’m not a huge french fry eater but they had a decent seasoning salt on them and not too salty. I liked the cole slaw, very creamy. Their secret sauce is probably thousand island dressing but ya know what? It’s good. It’s better and cheaper than a McD’s Big Mac meal !! They have ketchup on the tables but you have to ask for mustard packets. I’ve Been eating here since I attended the University of Louisville in the 1990s, hasn’t changed at all. They get busy and can be slow but today the wait wasn’t bad and worth it, really enjoyed my Whizz Burger. Just a safety note this is NOT the best of neighborhoods, just be aware.

★★★★★ Five Stars — Timeless Perfection
I’ve been eating Dizzy Whiz burgers in my hometown of Louisville, KY for over 50 years, and some things in life don’t just hold up — they endure. I’m back home from Atlanta, GA for an homegoing service for a beautiful lady and in the middle of a heavy trip, I stopped by Dizzy Whiz. My God… on today it was still the best. The same unmistakable flavor, the same no-nonsense perfection, the same comfort that only a true hometown institution can deliver. One bite and decades of memories come rushing back. Dizzy Whiz isn’t just a burger joint — it’s Louisville history, consistency, and soul served on a bun. No trends, no gimmicks, just greatness. If you know, you know. And if you don’t, you’re missing out.

A cool local spot, it’s been around since 1947. If you like to avoid fast food chains, but still want a cheap burger and fries, then this is a great spot. The flurrie was pretty good too. It is an old building, but seemed clean. We sat inside, but there’s outdoor seating, and the drive in.
