Update 23JUL23: This remains the best Indian food I’ve had domestically. The service was superb and the food was absolutely incredible. I like to provide occasional updates because far too many places decline over time. Not so with Diya. They hold themselves to a very high bar and are consistent with it. If you’re a beer person, definitely give the “Power 10000” beer a try as well. It isn’t what you’d expect and is delicious. I’m just bummed Total Wine doesn’t carry it. Definitely give this place a visit.

I had a wonderful lunch at Diya. Diya has a lot of Indian dishes as well as Nepali dishes on their menu. I ordered momo dumplings, tandoori chicken tikka, and lamb biryani. Everything taste delicious especially the biryani. The price is about $20 per dish. It is two blocks away from King Street.

Diya has really great Indian dishes! We had the Butter Chicken, Chicken Masala and the Lamb Karahi with a side of Garlic Naan bread. All the meats were tender and can be sliced with a fork. I recommend buying multiple dishes to share.

Eclectic decor, long waiting time but seriously fresh and authentic taste. Located in the heart of busy business district in charming old building, it’s easier to find if only using Google and willing to walk a little from parking spot. Servers are warm and busy, clientele is mixed and prices on higher side but amount of food is okay. Must try once place.

The day we were visiting Alexandria our waitress was so unwelcoming that I was ready to leave and go elsewhere. Yet, when she came back to take the order second time, she was in a better mood to help with the food selection. ‍♀️ I guess we all have our moments. The food was amazing. It was worth us staying.
