The trendiest new food in South Shore Valley Stream. A unique concept with a bar and a dining hall featuring lunch boxes and a modern Indian menu. It distinguishes itself by the use of an assortment of spices in its preparation and presentation to create a combination of Mughlai cuisine with a touch of Punjabi taste.

Absolutely delicious cultural, organic Indian cuisine made with love. This restaurant is definitely a hidden gem. I am grateful for the fresh tasting, flavorful, divine herbs, and spices infused in this meal. The sweet, and savory seafood cuisine infused in tomato sauce was delectable. Adding the tamarind sauce in addition to the complementary chutney sauce to the potato samosa truly enhanced the ingredients, and satisfied my appetite. Shukran

We really wanted to like this restaurant and the food but unfortunately the food was below par. We ordered Malabar Chicken Curry and Chicken Hara Bara. The Chicken curry looked like they took chicken pieces and mixed with some store bought gravy, no flavor and was really bland. The Chicken Hara Bara was really salty, couldn’t even eat it. Overall very disappointing on the quality of the food.

My mom and I had a delicious chicken Tika masala lunch box. It was $12 and it came with a delicious samosa, lentils, and naan. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! The waitress was extremely sweet and professional and the atmosphere was perfect, nice and quiet, great price and great food

I seen the review after ordering the assorted vegetable pakoda.. mine gone worst. They just given the cauliflower dipped in chickpea flower. In no country this is called pakoda, may be cauliflower 65 and definitely it’s not indian. Please don’t scam the customers. Instead of assorted vegetable, may be change the menu into”LEFTOVER VEGETABLE PAKODA” .I also ordered the chats, portions are small( 6$ for pakoda, with 6pieces ,you got be kidding me) not tasty and definitely not worth of price. If you guys run this way, I am afraid only see
one time customers and no regular customers or survive the restaurant. This area lacks a good indian restaurant, u have to have good cook and proactive to run the business here.

So the service was great! Really kind people. The only thing was my chicken tikka the sauce was good but the chicken itself when you bite into it it was very very dry almost hard to eat. The honey butter chicken was good. Nothing special

I go fairly often, the food is very good and it’s close. BUT literally we got wrong entrees in my last 4 visits. Why can’t the waitresses just write down the order? I had high hopes bc we had a NEW waitress but nope entree was wrong. 25 minutes wait while the kitchen remade the order. These are basic, straight off the menu food entrees. Tandoori chicken. On the plus side – about a month ago when my order was wrong I did get to try the tandoori salmon-which was delish!- while we waited for the correct dish to be cooked. We’ve laughed about it in the past bc stuff happens but there were only 2 other diners and I’m now sooo clear when I order – I just don’t understand. This time, alas, we weren’t offered the chicken tikka masala when it appeared instead of the tandoori chicken. I don’t always have an extra half an hour to wait for my meal to be cooked AGAIN. Or maybe the waitresses can write down the orders? Good grief. I don’t know if I’ll go back again.

Would normally rate this establishment higher but have now had a few issues here with my orders.
I have now been to Diya twice now. The first time I requested medium spice which I normally do at most places. The dish came out way too spicy. On my second visit, my group ordered several items and my items were missing. When I called myself to reorder my items, I requested light spice and the lady on the phone asked me if I meant medium spice. I clarified again that I only wanted light spice and received a dish with practically the same spice level as my previous experience.
Also the curry entrees here do not come with rice and are an extra charge, which I think is non-typical. Rice is an extra $4 for a side which is a pretty large charge for not having rice included with meals that are mostly sauce.
I likely will not be visiting Diya anymore as I prefer other establishments even though they are further.
