I have been wanting to visit and check the place out for a while. I saw they have s Tuesday special for chili and a drink so I went why a friend to check it out. The chili is different but it’s good. Basically you get the chili with options to customize to your taste. The location is like an old school diner with the front counter to sit at or single take and chairs. They have really good pie and the prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get.
I suggest the chili with a combo of soupy and plain. It’s a good balance and they give you chili powder, vinegar and options for cheese, onions and sour cream. I ordered a side of everything to split between two of us and that was plenty. It’s today worth trying and I will be back to check out the all you can eat tacos!

Wasn’t thinking much when my boss said we’re going to a chili spot. Wasn’t looking forward to the possibility of blowing guts at work. Ive never been so wrong about a place. The all you can eat tacos were perfect. The chili was spot on and prices were great. The server was there before I had to ask for anything. Great spot!!!

Dixon’s is it’s own thing, and if you like it (my husband does!) then it’s all good. I found it bland at best, consisting of hamburger cooked and not noticeably seasoned until you order, which means the spices are ON it and not IN it. You can get your bland meat with or without chili juice stuff, onions, beans, cheese, etc. I did like the spaghetti, which was thick and well- cooked. We did not have the all you can eat tacos, and I suspect we should have, but we were there for chili. We did see many tacos going out, and the service on them was fast and to order, so that’s definitely a way to go, though the meat on those tacos is still likely the same mediocre mess. I do not recommend the ‘chili’, my husband does, but if we go back, I’m ordering tacos and will update. The restaurant itself is clean but dingy, very old corner restaurant, complete with broken barstools kept (I assume) for reasons of nostalgia. Bathrooms are through the kitchen door, but I didn’t check them out. Staff was friendly and service fast, so it would be a good place to grab work on lunch break.

Been coming to Kansas City for many years, and always have barbecue. I know one of the owners from Pappy’s smokehouse in St Louis, and when I mentioned I was heading back to KC he said I should try this place. It did not disappoint. Everything was fresh and good. I got the regular chili with some onions, sour cream, and the jalapeno relish. And I tried one of the tacos.
The only thing that didn’t make it an outstanding experience was the waitress. I told her it was my first time here and wasn’t sure what to order, she seemed indifferent about it, and not helpful at all. Actually she had the personality of the coffee table.
Everybody else seemed very friendly though. Will return.

Had the spaghetti chili out of sheer curiosity and it was actually really good. Best way I could describe it is a cousin of a tastey sloppy Joe? Server was really attentive and courteous, really on top of things. A bit loud at the time but I think there was a party or something so wouldn’t really hold it against them.

Came from Colorado and to Dixons for pregame grub. Found it on Google with good reviews and thought I’d give it a try. I had the chili in its own juice over a tamale with cheese, onion, and sour cream. Sweet tea for a drink. I was not disappointed. Chii tastes homemade, and the service is quick and friendly. Portions are filling even for a big guy like me.
It’s definitely recommended if you are in town before the game or if you want some legit chili made there for over 100 years.

You might try to eat it all, but I soggiest going back a few times and trying it all on separate occasions. The tacos are as good as they get, and the chili is famous for a reason. When the waitress said “if you’ve never had this you’re in for a treat”, she was not joking! Claim being made: Best chili on, near, around or within a few hundred miles of the Missouri River!

Did not care for their chili and how they present it. They should just have a bowl of chili all ready made up. I bet it would be fantastic. Needs to be one of your menu items. I hate to have to work for my meal. Tacos were good as long as you put their fantastic taco sauce on them.

We stopped by for a late lunch on our way to do laundry. G had the spaghetti chili and I had the footlong. G ate all his but I couldn’t finish mine. The serving size was plenty big but I found mine kind of lukewarm. The cheese was not melted the entire time. If I made the footlong, I’d grill the hot dog. Local folks probably love this chili, but I found it kind of sweet. As a Virginian, I prefer leaning towards heat not sweet. The queso and chips and the cherry cheesecake were good.

You walk in the door, and it’s like walking back in time, throughout its 100-year history they have been serving up chili to happy people ad including President Harry S Truman as seen from the pictures and a letter from the president hanging on the walls. No matter what you order from chili spaghetti to the fabulous, all you can eat tacos. You will be satisfied with your experience. i highly recommend Dixons Chili. I will be back.
