Stalwart diner for country home cooking, including breakfast, meatloaf & roast beef.

The atmosphere felt warm and welcoming, very much like a cozy family spot. The staff was kind, attentive, and made us feel comfortable right away. Seating was quick and smooth. Every dish arrived perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The restaurant was spotless and well maintained, which added to the overall great experience.

Once upon a time, this location was a great place to have a nice meal for a reasonable price and great service. My last two visits have left me beyond dissatisfied. We ordered the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and a salad. The chicken fried steak was raw and the salad tasted like dirt. Raw chicken unwashed lettuce, and stiff potatoes was what we received. We had to throw away the food and be stuck with wasting our time and money. Needless to say, I will not be returning and I recommend choosing the East Lancaster location to get a meal.

The food was not good. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and the burger was literally falling apart & a quarter of it wasn’t even on the bun. My Dixie fries needed to be cooked longer, even though most of them looked burnt on one end. My husband’s onion rings needed fried longer.. the crust was almost white in color & the onions inside were almost raw! Our friend ordered corn & twice baked potatoes with his meal and couldn’t eat either because they tasted bad. Another lady in our party ordered the meatloaf and couldn’t eat it.. she said it didn’t taste like hamburger meat was used to make it.. Four dinners cost us $85.95 for horrible food. We will definitely never go back there again & I seriously advise no one else to go there either. Total disappointment!

This morning, I had a craving for a hearty, home-cooked breakfast, and I found just the spot. The warm, inviting atmosphere set the tone, and the waitress, though I didn’t catch her name, made the experience even better with her friendly demeanor and thoughtful recommendation. She suggested the loaded omelet, and it didn’t disappoint. The seasoned sausage, crispy bacon, and golden hashbrowns were the perfect trio, delivering all the flavors and textures of a comforting homemade meal. For anyone seeking authentic, homestyle cooking, this place is a must-try!

My husband and I ate here for the first time a couple weeks ago. The food is amazing! Our only complaint is that everything is incredibly expensive. We definitely would’ve chosen different menu items if we had known that the prices were higher, but we did not know at the time that the price is on Google are not their actual prices.
We got a Frito pie and a bacon grilled cheese. My husband really loved the Frito pie, there was tons of meat, and the Fritos weren’t super soggy! The bacon grilled cheese was delicious, I just wish that both sides of the bread were evenly dark instead of one side, dark and one side light. The french fries were deliciously seasoned, but maybe could’ve been a little crispier. We also had a side of the mac & cheese, which we both really loved. It was very creamy and delicious! And to top it off, we tried a sopaipilla cheesecake which wasn’t as delicious as we thought. Sopaipillas are very light, like a pastry. Instead, what we were given was a huge piece of croissant on top of cheesecake covered in cinnamon. It would’ve been really nice if this were a real sopaipilla inspired cheesecake, with the actual elements of the pastry existing, even maybe some honey since that’s a popular dip for sopapillas. The croissant was way too much for the cheesecake, in my opinion.
All that being said, the owner of the café is super friendly! She is so sweet and so kind! She talk to me on the phone to place my order, and she also accepted my payment when I went to get my food. She is very bubbly and charismatic, and she genuinely cares about if people like her food or not. I am a little sad though, I told her twice it was my first time to eat there with no reaction from her. It wasn’t until her employee said that we wasted our money on what we got it and we could’ve gotten a special for way cheaper with more food that she said that there were special options available. I thought that was a little deceitful, and it did ruin our experience just a little bit because we spent over $50 for the food that we ordered, and we definitely would’ve tried one of their specials if we had known that they had existed. To me, it is the job of the owner to tell Customers about existing specials they have, especially if they are first-time customers and they want them to come back. I think the $50 ticket was a little high, and we might go back again if they have a special. Probably not if they don’t because while the food is good, the ticket is too high for the food they are providing.

If you’re looking for a home cooked meal on a daily basis, this is the place to go. I haven’t ordered everything on the menu, but I’ve eaten most of everything. lol, food is to die for, and our waitress Reyna/ Rayna was the absolute best highly recommended she not only knew the menu she recommended great desserts as well. We’ve come to Dixie House Cafe a few times before, and each time, the experiences are different than the time before making it one of our favorite places to go. Let’s talk about the food, omg. If I told you that the country fried steak melts in your mouth or the salad was made by a true chef…. it would be an understatement. This place has the best of both worlds, and if you’re ever in the area, tell them Drakka sent ya. With 2 k’s okay Remember since the owner died they have raised the prices so get there why you can in hopes the prices don’t go up once more we’ll all be some at home cooks I small piece of pie went fron $4 to $8 ridiculous

Terrible food. Ordered a big mouth burger. Barely the size of a McDonald’s cheeseburger…onion rings were atrocious….hard as a rock and the onion itself was tough as a rubber band…took 20 minutes to get the food. Which I wouldn’t mind for good food. But not for this. The place is nasty…unclean…and dirty for a fact. Don’t waste your time. Pass it by.

I’m local wanted to come back with mi kids, man after convincing them from photo menu, not even close to what it was. Very disappointed. First hash browns were spoiled, old oil they used. We told the waitress and told us for a substitute we accepted. Never came back. Never refilled our coffe. Eggs uncooked made my kids sick they were throwing up outside cant post the pics. In general never coming back. I was a waiter for years and never ever treated a customer bad. Customer service is a #1 choice first then the meal.
