I’m now a believer. Our friend took us here because this is one of his favorite places. The fried chicken was cooked to order anx was delicious. If you’re looking for over seasoned, salty or burn your lips off fried chicken then this isn’t the place for you. But if you’re wanting some tasty crispy chicken then get off you roost and fly over here. The ribs…well let’s just say the meat was literally falling off the bones. But even if it wasn’t, the flavor would have you gnawing that bone! Man that was some good ribs!

I got the fried chicken meal. The chicken was okay. Some pieces of chicken had more flavor than others. The sweet potatoes were not my favorite but the onion rings was very good. The coating was well seasoned.

I knew it would be good when there was 2 NOPD patrol cars out front.
Stumbled on Dixie completely by accident. Tucked in a neighborhood just off Canal Blvd, the restaurant isn’t big, but their food was exceptional. It is a small place, not too many tables and there was one wait staff. She never stood still and flew around that place like her hair was on fire, refilling drinks and making sure we were okay. I set my straw wrapper down, next thing I knew it was gone. We had chicken, ribs and onion ring appetizer. In our quest to eat fried chicken in every state, this place was great. Was a little worried for my wife about eating fried chicken in Louisiana (too spicy), but it was seasoned just right. Ribs fell off the bone, slaw and beans were good too.
Glad we stopped. Memorable experience.

Wow, so I live in the West end area of New Orleans and I had multiple people tell me to check out Dixie since I had never been.
I decided the best plan is to get the ribs/chicken combo to really experience it. I made it through most of the ribs and saved the chicken since that always reheats well. Absolutely phenomenal, the beans were great too, need to go back on a Monday and try the red beans.

The chicken was crispy but had 0 seasoning, the BBQ Ribs was most definitely wasn’t BBQ. That’s baked with BBQ sauce. The BBQ Beans was a big disrespect to my mouth. I wont be returning but the waitress. was sweet..

The special on Tuesday is hamburger steak. You get two sides with it. My favorite are macaroni and cheese and cabbage. Delicious comfort food!

The poboys looked good, but….. you know I had to try the chicken and ribs. The chicken was very fresh and crispy. Skin was perfectly cooked. The actually chicken didn’t have much flavor. At least needs more salt. The ribs on the other hand were amazing. Fell right off the bone. I will definitely be back to try more menu items. Staff was very friendly.

This may be the worst restaurant in New Orleans. We waited over an hour for our meal, the server kept telling us we were next. Then she comes back and tells us they lost the ticket, that our food must have gone accidentally to a go order. They then told us it would be another twenty minutes. Well we decided to leave, and they had the nerve to charge us for our iced teas and a root beer. Do yourself a favor there are far to many good restaurants to eat at in New Orleans.

Food and service were good. The star for me was the potato salad and the onion rings.
