Down-to-earth eatery serving up Southern pit BBQ in a bright, checked-tablecloth setting.

At first I thought the menu looked a little pricy, but once I got the food I realized it was well worth it. Giant portions and the quality was excellent. Brisket was tender, sauce was amazing. I really like that the Collard greens were not overly seasoned, and the baked beans had amazing flavor. Wish we had this place in Richmond.

A great place to enjoy BBQ with authentic taste!
We tried almost all of their dishes & they are delicious. Corn bread is little dry, but if you sprinkle some water then microwave 30 secs, it becomes nice & soft.
DO NOT SKIP THE SAUCE! Definitely try their sauce!
It’s a lot of food too, so it always ends up my 3 meals.
Their desserts give old time southern home cooked meal feeling for sure.
The servers are polite and helpful.
Overall, nice place for takeout or quick dine in. We do both.

Their food has truly fallen down a big hill!
I don’t even think they grill their ribs anymore. I believe they’re put in an oven … absolutely no flavor and they are very fatty. .
They don’t even sell rib racks anymore. You have to buy them by the bone..
Their sides seem to be still delicious, but that’s about it.
After almost 30 years, I couldn’t be more disappointed.

I order some takeout from here to feed my family of four. My takeaways:
1. The food was okay. When I say, “Okay,” I mean that it was mediocre. The meat was a little dry and I had to season the Beef BBQ because it had no flavor. It just tasted like smoked meat. And the smoke flavor was a light hint of smoke flavor instead of being a well pronounced smoked brisket turned into Beef BBQ.
2. The staff, Danny and Alexis were great. They were friendly and all smiles. They got the food packed up pretty quickly.
3. The macaroni and cheese is bland. Again with the no flavor.
4. The muddy spuds were pretty decent. I added a little salt and pepper to taste and it was better. The cabbage was overcooked and mushy.
Overall, I’d say this place was a one time try for me especially with the price for the amount and the lack of flavor.

Amazing customer service and suggestions. The food was amazing as always, hot and tasty. Highly recommend this place for a hot meal. Especially on Friday’s for their “Friday Fish Fry”!

Today was my first time eating here and unfortunately will be my last. My macaroni tasted like it was from lunch, and not fresh. My ribs were dry not moist at all, and the sauce tasted like it was “watered down” and my girlfriends catfish was not that great. The cornbread was very dry and cold. Not even warm. I understand expedited service which our food was out within about 4 mins of us ordering, but if it was hot and fresher then I wouldve been happier and impressed. I had wanted to prder in from this place many times and I’m happy I didnt because just like today I wouldnt have eaten much.

I can’t say it was horrible. I’m from the south and this wasn’t our BBQ. The homemade sauces were to watery and barely noticeable. The beans they stuck something into them that gave them a funny taste. The potato salad would make my grandma roll over. The Mac and cheese left me guessing. Cornbread was alright. Sweet tea was good. Did a 2 meat combo. Can’t complain about portions they are really good. Catfish didn’t look real and was really tender and flaky but tasteless. The ribs were really tender and you could taste the smoke but very little else and since they didn’t have any traditional BBQ sauce only watery sauce it was hard to get a good taste to it. The chicken thigh was really tender and fell apart. Didn’t taste bad. The pulled chicken was just that. Dry and tasteless and no good BBQ sauce to help. The sausage was weak and if it’s not homemade then they need to find a new vendor.
The highlight of the place was the friendly staff. Our waiter did an awesome job checking on us and making sure all was well. The bathrooms were clean and even smelled clean. 1 person only so you might have to wait.
Overall. I can’t really say it sucked because this may be how they like north eastern BBQ. But from a southern point of view I’d stay far away and won’t be trying it again.
Thank you staff for being the high point.

10/10!! I was looking for a local place to eat along my route from DC, and I saw the sign for this restaurant on the highway. I’m so glad I made the stop. The staff was very nice! The prices are decent and the food was soo good and fresh. The catfish was fried hard and crispy! I got the smaller portion and still couldn’t finish it. I also got the pecan pie. That was really good as well not too sweet just right.

I like to Thank Dixie Bones Staff. It was pleasant to see the Staff working together as a unit. To Shanon for extensive knowledge of the menu, which made it EASY! My choice was the Pull Pork BBQ with slaw and a side of beans. Of the four sauces, Red bottle made its way atop a mound of meat. The combo flavor had my taste buds wanting more. No room for dessert, but next visit, challenge accepted! I would recommend to friends and family! (I didn’t have it, the IDAHO potatoes are MASSIVE! )

I actually went into labor in this restaurant 23 years ago and refused to leave without my collar greens because they are my favorite. I still feel that way today. Unfortunately, we’re stationed in North Carolina now, so it’s a little bit of a drive. We stopped in this week to grab our favorite color greens and pork barbecue . Of course, the muddy spuds were also delicious as always. The restaurant is always clean and has plenty of parking.
