Fantastic hole in the wall with incredibly fast and delicious food at an unbelievable price for this day and age. My husband and I ordered the Chicken Biryani, chicken over rice, and the goat karahi. We also enjoyed some chai. Always fun to find such a great small business. We’ll be glad to come back or even order take out one day (this would make incredible takeout!)

Mehak, the manager, and Tika are so nice, that I had to post a review before bringing home the food.

(EDIT) Very flavorful, but the portions were not even half a portion! 2.5 pieces of beef in the beef nihari and 3 pieces chicken (most of it was bones) was not enough. $1.50 for a single, small chapati. The Gulab Jamun, which normally I think are too sweet, are delicious, btw. For the extremely stingy portion size, I had to knock off 2 stars. We are still starving. If not for the teeny tiny portion sizes, this would be a 5 star review. I see pictures of other reviews and they look like normal sized portions, so what happened to our meals? I’m sad about this review because Mehak and Tika were so nice, but don’t be so stingy with your food. I picked out the beef, and that’s all there was? There was even less chicken!

NB: credit cards have a 3% surcharge. Also, the special lunch deals are no longer available (crossed out). Here are today’s specials (see black chalkboard pic).

Attended an iftar party at Diwan Restaurant, it was well organized, delicious iftar delicacies and mouth watering Biryani was served.

The service was great, owner himself was present to takecare of each and every request. And how can we miss their Karak Chai served post iftar dinner.

They are best for small family events, great food and budget friendly.

Here’s a polished, rewritten version of your review:

I recently had the chance to try some truly outstanding biryani, and it was an absolute treat. The rice was perfectly cooked—light, fluffy, and each grain beautifully separated, carrying the rich aroma of well-balanced spices. The chicken was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, clearly marinated with care and cooked just right.

The layering was what impressed me most. Each spoonful offered a new depth of flavor, from the sweetness of the caramelized onions to the gentle touch of saffron. It wasn’t greasy, and the spice level was ideal—enough to add a pleasant kick without overshadowing the natural taste of the ingredients.

Overall, this biryani was comfort food at its best, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a thoughtfully crafted, traditional dish made with genuine expertise.

We had a great time at Diwan. The regulars were welcoming, service was fantastic, with the chef/owner coming out to recommend dishes and check on us. Delicious chicken biryani and goat karhai. Complementary sweet at the end of the meal was so nice. Their kitchen is open late (4am) and there are two $1 billiard tables to play and chai to sip. I will be back with a group to enjoy again soon. The mawa and chiku ice cream was great on the way home, chiku was my favorite.

I went to the gas station across the street and I could smell the restaurant cooking from there. I went and they were selling a barbecue special. Me and my girlfriend loved it! We came back for their regular menu and it was delicious as well. The place isn’t fancy looking, but I like that vibe more than if it was fancy. Also reasonably priced.

I recently had the pleasure of trying some truly exceptional biryani, and it was nothing short of a delight. The rice was perfectly cooked—each grain fluffy and separate, infused with rich spices that hit the perfect balance between warmth and aroma. The meat (tender chicken in my case) was juicy and flavorful, marinated well and cooked to perfection.

What really stood out was the layering—the way the flavors built up from the bottom of the pot to the top. Every bite had something to offer, from the caramelized onions to the subtle hint of saffron. It wasn’t too oily, and the spice level was just right—enough to give it a kick without overpowering the natural flavors.

This biryani was comfort food at its finest, and I’d recommend it to anyone who appreciates a well-made, traditional dish that’s clearly crafted with care and experience.

My recent visit to Diwan Restaurant was an absolute culinary delight, and I couldn’t be more impressed! From the moment I stepped inside, the inviting aromas of authentic Pakistani and Indian cuisine enveloped me, setting the stage for a truly memorable meal. The atmosphere was incredibly clean and comfortable, making it a perfect spot to relax and enjoy.

I had heard wonderful things about their biryani, and it surpassed all expectations. Each grain of rice was perfectly cooked, fluffy, and infused with a rich, aromatic blend of spices that hit all the right notes. The tender chicken in my biryani was incredibly juicy and flavorful, clearly marinated and cooked to perfection. What truly stood out was the incredible depth of flavor in every bite, from the caramelized onions to the subtle saffron notes. It wasn’t too oily, and the spice level was just right, enhancing rather than overpowering the natural flavors.

Beyond the biryani, the menu offers a fantastic variety. I also tried the smoky dhuan ghost, which was perfectly charred and incredibly flavorful. The portions are generous, offering great value. The service was genuinely friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming experience. Plus, the added bonus of a pool table makes it a unique spot to enjoy with friends. Diwan Restaurant is a true gem, and I highly recommend it for anyone craving authentic, delicious Pak-Indo cuisine in a relaxed setting.
