This place is special! We live out on the Aleutians so we don’t make it to Hope as often as we’d like, but the amazing food, the atmosphere, and – if you are very lucky – maybe Saturday Cinders is performing, all combine to make this maybe our favorite place to eat in Alaska. They are closed for the season now, but do yourself a favor and give them a try in 2026!

I’ve been coming back to Dirty Skillet again and again over the years and honestly? It’s just that good. Every visit is a whole vibe — I’m obsessed with their cozy outdoor seating and the little table fires (so cute and toasty!). The food? Always fresh, full of flavor, and totally delish. I especially love when there’s live music outside on certain days— it just adds that extra magic. If you’re in the area, this spot is an absolute must. I always get excited for my next visit!

We were definitely pleasantly surprised to find this little gem in the middle of nowhere on our road trip thru Alaska! The owners are great people and are outstanding, top notch hosts! Jeannine even hugged us when we left 🙂 The atmosphere, service, and food were equally exceptional!! We had the pleasure of receiving a meal compliments of Mr Jim—thank you so much again for that!! We loved it so much that we came back for a second night. This little place is an Alaskan version of true southern hospitality! Do not miss this place if you’re in the area!!

Had an amazing time at the Dirty Skillet. Wonderful service, nice atmosphere, friendly service. We were promptly taken care of by the staff. They kept us cozy on this rainy day by moving a heater closer to our table. There’s also a unique fire pit in the center of each table which is fantastic to watch and practical to keep warm. Food was excellent and we’ll balanced. I had the Big Sexy Kahuna Poke Bowl and it was phenomenal. It was light, but filling. I hope to go there again sometime soon.

Great place to eat. The burger I got had a great beef flavor and texture. I’m guessing they grind thier own meat and it’s was great. All the apps were good and all their beer on tap we’re great. A greasy spoon type place but also had great vegan options for my vegan friends. Live music, friendly service, and a blueberry rhubarb pie I’ll dream about all week made for a great meal.

Lovely outdoor dining space with fire “pits” in the tables creating a cozy atmosphere. The menu leans into southeast Asian flavors but offers options for most dietary preferences! We were surprised at how good the fries were and my friend was very happy with their salmon burger. Overall a great experience and would stop by again the next time I find myself in the area.

Lovely place to stop for a bite and drink. Kids loved the pond and the ducks swimming in it. The four outdoor tables had a fire in the middle. There were a couple high top tables by the bar as well. Nice fast service. Loved the cookie home made ice cream. The rice balls were expensive but I’m sure a lot of work and they tasted so good. Wish I could have tried more of the food.
