A-Hole In The Wall
If you believe there are no second acts in America allow me to introduce you to a little place called Dipper Cafe. If you asked me to rank the old dive bars of New Bedford in order of the likelihood they experienced a revival this place would have easily been in the bottom three.
And yet somehow, someway, the Dipper has reinvented itself as one of the best spots on the South Coast for bar pizza. Didn’t see that coming. As a bar it is similar to how it used to be, except it’s quieter. It doesn’t seem to attract the ski crowd like it once did.
Staff is generally solid. Couple of the bartenders are really good. Kitchen can get backed up with orders so best to call it in before showing up, even if you plan to eat in.

As if i didn’t think the place couldn’t get any better, I see one of the workers wearing a Bolt Thrower cap . Best spot in NB and my new favorite pizza- 10/10 every time

Nice spot for a community bar and convenient for neighborhood. I love the atmosphere inside, and customer service was awesome. The pizza was great but a little oily. Had a situation with a hold on account for a different price than what I was charged, but the owner is looking into it. Great variety of beer and full bar. Great selection, and I hope to see you soon.

I had only heard of this place when I was in high school years ago bc my friends aunt used to go on weekends & we’d babysit her kids. Fast forward 20+ yrs & a friend suggested going here, that it been reopened by friends & the pizza is amazing…. And omg was it! I’ve been thinking about it ever since & can’t wait to have a chance to go back, even if it’s for a pizza or two to go! Hoping this weekend (I’ll add pics then, bc I forgot the 1st time). Drinks were made perfectly & I’m kind of picky about my drink, lol! The atmosphere was also friendly & inviting, I’ll definitely be back…. For pizza, or just for a night out with friends. Also, there was enough for me to take the rest of my pizza home & it heated up in the air fryer perfectly the next day

Follow-up trip to the Dipper. Went with a Linguica. Ordered and ate at the bar. Came laced and well done automatically. Previous trip ordered out. Was quoted 25 minutes for the pizza and it took a little longer. No big deal. Went with half chorico and half pepperoni pizza. If i could only pick one, I’d go with the chorico. Good amount of toppings, didn’t specify, but it was cooked well done. Very good overall taste. Some grease to be expected from the meat toppings. Sauce is good. Crust had a good crunch along the edges and flavorful. Very little flop. Definently a personal pizza. Thin crust and can be eaten entirely in one sitting. Ran the numbers on my scoring system and the pizza gets a Google 4, 7.1 out of ten on the scale.

For as small as this place is, its quite the little spot to go and have fun. Ordered some pizza to go and it was amazing. Crispy and not that greasy. Just enough. Highly recommend.

Small little hole in the wall. Server was great and the bar pizza hit. They had a rough evening with the help but did everything they could to make sure you had a good experience.

Went in to get pizza. Took an hour to get bar pizza. Then had two guys acting like they were homeless to get charity. Bartender didn’t warn me until after I treated them to food and a couple drinks out of pity. Be careful going here
