Dirty Moores is in a fantastic historical building.
Some friends invited me to stop down…the place was busy…its so great to see that.
There was a farmers market going on next door.
Friends bought me beautiful flowers at the market.
Bartender Dawn made a delicious drink made with Malibu Rum, Blue Curaco, Peach Schnapps, OJ & Pineapple Juice.
(It kind of matched my shirt).
Bartender Dawn is great…
Lots of heart and great folks.
Uncle Lawrence came here for many, many years, even though he rarely had a drink of alcohol. There’s a memorial on the wall to remember the Airforce Hero!
Head over early because seating is very limited BUT friendliness is not.
Dinty Moore’s is an absolute must-visit and one of the oldest bars in Nebraska! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a warm welcome that made us feel right at home. The highlight of the day was when four ladies—clearly longtime patrons—stood up and insisted that, as first-time visitors, we take their seats at the bar. That gesture alone spoke volumes about the kind of community and hospitality you’ll find here.
The atmosphere is unbeatable—packed with history, character, and some of the friendliest people we’ve ever met in a bar. The walls tell stories of decades past, making it feel like you’re stepping into a piece of Nebraska’s history.
We had so much fun that we decided to buy the packed bar a round, and to our surprise, it cost less than 4 drinks at a previous stop! If you stop in, we highly recommend doing the same—it was an excellent experience and just added to the incredible visit.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this is the kind of place where you instantly feel at home. Don’t miss out on this true hidden gem! Ask to see the cigar box…
The people always have greeted us when we come in, and we’re from out of town. We visit when we’re in Nebraska City because it’s where my wife’s grandfather hung out there. It’s still the same bar that he leaned against.
I’m going to have to try their Apple Pie cocktail!
