Food service stopped at 10 or so which we did not know. Our server was very gracious and friendly when she let us know.
The food was fresh and tasty. Calamari strips were good, breakfast was good and the sandwich we had, the reuben, also good. Really thick bread on the reuben! The parmesan truffle fries were quite tasty, as well.
We did not get drinks.

Coral was our server. She was especially helpful and provided suggestions on requests we had. Food was very good. Onion rings were nice and crispy. Salmon was excellent. Service was superb. Highly recommend Dini’s By the Sea.

We’ve been staying at Tamarack Beach Resort for about 25 years and have eaten at Dini’s many times over that span. Until recently, we had never felt disrespected here.
On this visit, we ordered two meals and two drinks for takeout. The drinks were full price ($4 each) but came in 12-oz cups. When dining in, you pay the same price and typically receive at least a 16-oz drink with free refills, so the value difference is noticeable—especially for takeout.
Three visits ago, a different staff member noticed how small the 12-oz takeout drinks were and, without us saying a word, provided two 12-oz drinks per person instead of one. She was kind, reasonable, and clearly understood that charging full price for such small drinks wasn’t fair. That proactive gesture made for a very positive experience.
About a month ago, we had this same drink-size issue again, this time with a different staff member, but while the drinks were still only 12 oz, no inappropriate remarks were made. Unfortunately, on this most recent visit—again with that same staff member—the issue came up a second time.
When I politely asked about the drink size, I was told that we had “kind of cheated the system” because my wife requested no ice (she avoids ice due to sensitive teeth). That comment felt unnecessary and dismissive, especially considering we paid full price.
The food itself was good, and this review is not about the kitchen or Dini’s overall—it’s about the service interaction and the inconsistency in how this situation is handled. We would have appreciated a straightforward explanation or a reasonable accommodation rather than being spoken to that way.
I asked to speak with the manager (Rachel), but she was not available. I’m posting this review with a copy of the receipt for context. After 25 years of loyalty, this was a disappointing experience, and I hope management will address it.

I wanted to eat with an ocean view with my 7 year old. I was happy they had some of his favorites. He had cheese pizza and chicken strips! Of course food for the next day, but when he’s happy, I’m happy. I loved the crab cakes and house salad. The clam chowder was ok. I like more of a creamy flavor than a citrus one, but it was edible and not gritty. =) The waiter Elijah was very attentive and the place was cleaned while you ate. The busboy would not let a used plate sit long if you were done. =) They even welcomed digs if you had them. We will definitely be back.

Excellent experience!! We come here every time we are in Carlsbad. Be sure to eat on the patio during the sunset. AMAZING!!! Our server, Marisol, was friendly and attentive. She was wonderful!!!. The food was spectacular!!!

We sat on the patio during sunset. (It was a beautiful one.) We enjoyed Oysters Rockafeller and the Pear and Prosciutto Flatbread from the Happy Hour menu. The food and service were fantastic! Everything being served around us looked great so we have to go back and try more things from the menu.
