The staff is lovely and super friendly. This place knows what it’s doing and deserves more attention!!
The classic banh mi is so delicious! And the chicken one is so tender. Amazing homemade gelato too! Really interesting flavors 🙂
John and Chi are also the most welcoming and kind people. Such a neighborhood gem!!
I’ve also enjoyed their egg coffee and vermicelli bowl.
This is one of my go-to spots to bring people to. 🙂
The bhanmi had the perfect salty sweet and spicy combo, the bread is fresh as well so you get a good crunch from the bread and the veggies.
10/10 coming back!
The couple who own and manage the restaurant are so lovely and kind. The food is largely inspired by the wife’s family, who are Vietnamese. This is the BEST banh mi I’ve had in NYC in 9 years of living here! And I’ve had proper banh mi’s in Vietnam… the banh mi’s at Diem taste like the authentic, real-deal! The bread was soft and crispy, with a touch of buttery savoriness, and lots of fresh chicken and veggies inside. The portion size of the sandwich was also impressively large. 10/10!
The Viet Milk Coffee is a gem! It obviously has the traditional condensed milk in it, but it’s not overly sweet, which I appreciate. A good balance of richness and flavorful espresso bean.
The owner encouraged me to try a free sample of the gelato. They rotate their flavors every week, with mango-flavor being the only constant. They always keep a vegan and sorbet option in the rotation also.
The restroom is the cutest freakin’ bathroom in Brooklyn. The restroom is through a hidden arched doorway in the bookcase. And the restroom is spotlessly clean and well decorated. It’s like a magical cozy place.
And yes, they have free wifi!
The cozy, green ambiance inside makes it a great spot for a casual meal, and they really do offer it all—including housemade gelato! As someone who’s lactose intolerant but still craves ice cream, I appreciated their vegan options, especially the vegan coffee gelato. It’s the first vegan gelato I’ve had that didn’t have any strange aftertaste. Their caffeinated drinks are delicious too, perfect for powering through your day. Plus, they have Wi-Fi if you want to work for a bit.
Overall, Diem Eatery is a fantastic place to satisfy a variety of cravings. Highly recommended!
