Very well appointed Mexican restaurant in University City on North and South just off Delmar.

First, the good news:

The chicken burrito was excellent. The way they prepare the chicken. It’s very moist and really flavorful.

The fajita bowl was also very good. Will definitely be back for that for the flavor and since it’s really healthy.

Now why they don’t get five stars:

Caveat: grew up eating Mexican Food in Colorado. I have very high standards. Someone would call me picky.

I agree with some of the other reviews. The salsa is pretty boring and really heavy on tomato. No heat at all that I could taste.

The chicken burrito comes with rice inside the burrito, which I don’t really like, so I asked for the rice on the side which they were more than willing to accommodate. +
The problem is now the rice needs to stand alone. I found it pretty heavy and ironically really spicy.

No beans with this chicken burrito entrée? Being my first time I ordered a side of beans. They seemed gritty. I’ve only experienced this when the beans are undercooked, but still mashed. Not the creaminess one would expect.

My wife and I both agreed that the Spicy Pineapple Margarita was the best drink we’ve ever had. The perfect amount of spicy, mixed with the sweetness of the pineapple and the saltiness of the rim couldn’t have been better.

I can’t say the food was “the best we’ve ever had” but it was very good. My wife got the vegan quesadilla with black beans and she loved it. I tried it myself and was very impressed with it, especially considering it was vegan. I got the Carnitas Street Tacos and Costra de Camaron Tacos and both were delicious.

This was our second visit and while the first visit was good enough to bring us back, the second visit really sold us and will keep us coming back for a long time! Can’t wait to get back and have a couple margaritas.

We kicked off our Tour de Tacos at Diego’s Cantina y Cocina, and let me just say—they understood the assignment. From the bold flavors to the literal fire at our table, this place delivered.

We sat inside where the A/C was strong, the margaritas were stronger, and the vibes were just right. The service? Friendly, fast, and happy to set our cheese on fire for dramatic effect.

Yes, they lit our queso flameado on fire. At the table. With flair. It was a full-on performance, and we were living for it. We may or may not have shouted “Opa!” in honor of Momos, the Greek spot that used to live in that building. Old habits die hard.

What we devoured:
– Queso flameado (melty, smoky, sizzling hot drama)
– Loaded bean dip (a sleeper hit—don’t skip it)
– Costra de pollo (crispy cheese, juicy chicken, perfectly seasoned)
– Tres leches (moist, milky heaven)
– A shared pitcher of hibiscus margaritas (sweet, tart, and slightly dangerous)

Every dish brought something to the table—literally and figuratively. There wasn’t a single bite left behind.

This is now a must for STL Mexican food lovers. Great for friend nights, dates, or any moment that calls for strong drinks and even stronger queso.

Follow me for more STL eats, sips, sass, and monthly taco stops. I’m just getting started. #TheSassySaint

Food was tasty and fresh. Main dishes Portions are a bit small, so you might want to consider ordering something shareable or a side tacos.
The margaritas are great, don’t miss them!

Was really hoping to love this restaurant with it being so close by. The food was good but small portions for sure. Our server was MIA most of the time. When asking for a soda refill they said we’d have to pay for another soda, no free refills… talk about nickle and dining ya. Unfortunately we won’t be back.

I recently dined at this Mexican restaurant and had an absolutely fantastic experience! The standout for me was the chicken burrito, which I would give 5 stars all on its own. The flavors were fantastic, with tender and perfectly seasoned chicken, the rice was soft and had a lovely authentic Spanish rice flavor, accompanied by fresh vegetables and a delectable sauce – the green sauce. The portion size was reasonable. They offer plenty of vegan options as well. The service was friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. Beautiful outdoor dining and a clean bar to try all sorts of Tequila and Mezcal. I can’t wait to return and savor that amazing chicken burrito again! Highly recommended! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

However, I did order some queso on the side which I was charged $4 for a cup, felt it was a bit pricey. Also, parking is kind of hard to get.

He never asked i dont understand the issue. Then had a Terrible Attitude when he returned the correct bill. The food was mediocre at best i didnt care for it neither did my wife. Had two drinks they were weak. Idk how much longer this place will be open.

The best in STL!!! Plus, Happy hour is a win!! Especially when JEFF is working. Do not hesitate to stop here for vegan and non vegan options tuesday-Saturday!!! Black bean taco, habanero sauce for chips not table side salsa.

Absolutely amazing on the inside, pictures don’t do this place justice. The patio is small but very nice. The décor and ambiance are top notch. I loved the palm tree, hanging garden, marble-style tables, archways, and ceiling designs. The lights were dim and the music was the right volume. THEY LIGHT THEIR QUESO ON FIRE. The salsa is very different but in a good way, it is more sweet than it is spicy. I was slightly disappointed when our entrees came out. The food is just too expensive for what it is. Chicken Quesadilla, rice, and beans for $20? Naw, naw. The Quesadilla tortilla needed to be fried and the Quesadilla itself was pretty wimpy. The refried beans are too thick and flavorless, but the rice was above average. The serving size for both was extremely small. Don’t even get me started on the Enchiladas Verde. My wife and I didn’t even finish half of them. All in all, this place is aesthetically phenomenal, but their food is subpar. Their beer selection is lacking and they don’t have any on draft. My suggestion would be to go for happy hour and get the apps. They have paper straws and an extensive Vegan menu.
