If this review is helpful, please make sure you leave it a like . My cousin and I were going to the New Edition concert. We wanted a restaurant to have dinner at that was close to the United Center. We stumbled upon Diego and it was very fortuitous for us. This is a quaint little restaurant with wonderful staff who are highly friendly and helpful. Not to mention the amazing food and drinks. It just happened to be restaurant week when we attended and they had a special menu. The staff came out and explained everything to us before we ate these lovely delectable bites. It was very nice and I would definitely go back quite frequently. Don’t miss out on this place authentic ethnic cuisine. You will surely love it.

Diego’s: Taquito Surprises and Tequila Promises
Diego’s is a genuinely fun, Mexican-inspired spot that immediately promises a good time. My first visit was just for a quick snack and a cocktail, but the engaging bartender and lively atmosphere ensure I’ll be back for a full entrée. The cocktails were inventive and fun, hitting all the right notes.
For my snack, I tried the Taquitos de Papa. While they were delicious, they offered a slight surprise: instead of the expected mashed potato filling, these were packed with thick sliced potatoes. It was an unexpected twist, but no worries—the taquitos were still great, especially drenched in that vibrant tomatillo salsa.
The short visit left a long impression. I’m already planning my return to properly explore their entrées and dive deeper into that cocktail menu. Diego’s is a must-try.

We had a group of people that wanted to visit, eat, & drink for a few hours close to the United Center but not right next to it. I had driven past Diego many times and decided the location was perfect.
We made a reservation a day before, the table was ready and waiting. I did observe smaller parties coming both with & without reservations being seated promptly as well
The service was so friendly and kind.
The mixed drinks were creative and so tasty. Great Mexican beers on tap and bottled. THE FOOD!!!!!! Tacos were phenomenal. Ceviche & Tuna tartar tostada had so much amazing flavor, enough heat to warm your mouth but not overpower the textures & taste. The bowls & burrito are filling and yummy.
Definitely not your average Mexican food, elevated flavors in familiar forms at Diego.
We found a new favorite place to go when we are in the area! Thank you Alex D. for taking such good care of us.

Traveler’s Log: Diego’s Delight!
Hey everyone! Just back from a fantastic evening and had to drop a quick review of Diego. If you’re looking for a spot that’s low-key but seriously delivers on quality, this is it.
* Vibe Check: It’s got that perfect casual, low-key atmosphere. Great for a relaxed date night or just chilling with a good friend.
* Sip & Savor: The drinks? Oh man, they are so well-balanced. You can tell they put real thought into the cocktails. No sugar bombs here!
* The Grub: The food is where they really shine. It’s creative and exceptionally well executed. Think familiar dishes but with a cool, unexpected twist.
* The Team: Friendly service all the way. Quick with a smile and happy to explain the menu magic.
* The Catch: Alright, here’s the reality check—prices are high. Definitely a “treat yourself” kind of place, not your Tuesday night pizza joint.
Verdict: Go for the amazing drinks and truly inspired food. Just remember to check your bank account first! Two thumbs up for the experience, one eye squinted at the bill.

This experience for restaurant week was phenomenal. For a $45 option, this is worth leaving the house in the cold 100%. The tuna tostada is the best thing I’ve ever had no lie.(it’s normally $17 alone) The spicy, savory, salsa macha and tuna avocado hit the spot. The Cali burrito was to die for. The dessert was delicious and drinks too. Our server was kind and the live dj made the experience even better. I love you Diego!!!!

What an unforgettable experience from start to finish! The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a cozy, inviting ambiance, with tasteful décor and a perfectly curated playlist that set just the right tone. The staff went above and beyond — warm, attentive, and genuinely caring — and the owner even stopped by to personally check on us, which made the visit feel extra special.

As for the food, it was nothing short of extraordinary. Each dish was bursting with flavor, beautifully presented, and clearly prepared with skill and attention to detail. The combination of incredible cuisine, welcoming service, and a vibrant yet comfortable atmosphere made the entire evening feel effortless and memorable. This isn’t just dining; it’s an experience you want to savor, repeat, and recommend to everyone who appreciates exceptional food and heartfelt hospitality.

One of the best late night spots I’ve eaten in. Even though we were at the end of the “dinner” period, the food was of great quality, the quesadilla was well made, creamy, the tostadas were crispy and the chicken tinga spicefulness was great

Nelly was awesome! Restaurant week was a great deal and the food was tasty. The Cali Burrito was really good and true to the west coast taste profile. The michelada was good also!

This place was delicious! I stumbled in for lunch last minute and was not disappointed. The cocktails were crisp and bright, pairing perfectly with the sunshine flooding the open roof patio. I particularly enjoyed the Flor Morada. I’m very particular with ceviche and I LOVED their Sueños Ceviche with salsa macha. Wow. 30/10. One of the best ceviches I’ve ever eaten. I also took a bite of my friend’s burrito and was blown away… like a burrito/shawarma fusion. 10/10. Staff were super friendly and attentive, and they had a live band playing throughout lunch. I’ll definitely be back! Very excited to try some more dishes.
