I had a corporate lunch I needed to order and have delivered in a specific time frame for a scheduled lunch slot. Dickeys BBQ was recommended as fast, convenient and good for the value place to order from. I placed a decent sized order via a food delivery app for lunch at our office. I’ve worked in the restaurant industry in the past and knew it was a large order. I allowed plenty of time for the order to be fulfilled. [It took 90+minutes]. I had no issues with that even.
I ordered [The BIG YELLOW Box Meal- which showed a photo of 2-1lb meat options and 3 LARGE sides]. I chose chicken, and brisket for the meat. FYI upcharge $60 and an additional $40 for each of the meat sides chosen. For the 3 sides: coleslaw, green beans, and BBQ beans they were included in the $100+ big yellow box option with the meat choices adding another $100+]. Again, this claimed to include 2 lbs of meat and 3 LARGE sides and 12 pieces of Texas Toast. Additionally, I added 2 orders of Full slab ribs, 1 lb of sausage and a family sized potato salad to ensure I had enough food for all 16 guests. Some of whom flew in from other countries and were excited to try American BBQ for the very 1st time.
The issues that are worth noting so no one has to experience what I experienced were:
1) When my $400 order arrived it Included 3 very small sides of coleslaw, beans, and Mac and cheese [I ordered green beans, not Mac and cheese]. When I say small, I mean literally a side order that comes with a meal for 1 person just 1 small container of each side, period. The 12 pieces of Toast came as a bread bag untoasted just plain bread in a bag. $400 dollars worth of food and 3 individual sized sides for all the meat? Based on the description and 12 pieces of bread. These small sides ruined our corporate lunch. This was not what was depicted or reflective of the photos, [product description or price paid].
2) I called the store after receiving the order. The moment I called and alerted the store the gentleman that worked there proceeded to berate and belittle me for no reason. He immediately began putting me down and outright refused to give me the green beans even when I said the mistake was fine and I was willing to pay for the tray of green beans. Forget the loaf of bread I toasted it myself for the guests.
From there the call went sideways. He went on to yell at me for ordering my order at 11 AM. Stating I had “ruined their restaurants day cleaning them out of the food they had for the day. It was my fault and he had to turn away customers because of my order. He said and I quote: “I cannot provide you green beans, even if you pay and pick them up yourself. Who orders that much food at 11 AM? Are you the same person that did this to me last week? Let’s be honest here you ordered a catering order and I gave you whatever you have. So no, I cannot help or make any further food for you even if you order and pay for it. We only get large orders after 3 PM. So no, there is nothing further I can do for you.”
I attempted to speak but he did not let me and continued ranting and stating he could no longer help me with anything. Once he stopped after 10 minutes of this ongoing lashing out at me. I simply stated thank you I will just figure out something else and I hung up. The customer service was TERRIBLE and accusing me of ruining the restaurants entire day by providing them with $400 in sales for lunch was not what I expected. I ultimately had to drive to a local salad place and buy more food to ensure vegetables were a side option.
Key point: Do not order any order aside from a lunch combo from here unless it’s after 3 PM, per the man on duty. Also, expect a loaf of bread and small sides. Terrible experience, never again.
Not worth it by a long shot. I think the walmart deli does a better job than whoever is the cook here.
So so bad. I’d consider it a scam.
Already emailed corporate but I’ll bet anything whoever responds to this comment is going to ask me to email corporate again for “more info”.
Reply to owner: I’m not even the customer you’re talking about so before you reply to a review, check your facts. I’m just simply putting in a review that the brisket I received was dry and salty and for others to be aware. Learn how to accept criticism or check on your staffs on how theyre seasoning/cooking the meat.
We’ve had mixed service experiences here. Sometimes not so friendly staff, but lately they’ve been really nice.
They have daily specials that make it a little more affordable. We’ve tried using coupons that we get through email from Dickey’s, but they don’t always accept them. I think you may be able to use them with online orders though.
We love the jalapeno cheddar sausage, the pulled pork and the turkey. The baked potato casserole is me favorite side. The BBQ beans are my husband’s favorite.
