MAKE A ROOT BEER FLOAT!!! Also, we the big yellow cups. This is our favorite Dickey’s and our favorite place in independence. Today the management was extra nice – offered to customize my salad. I watched him treat his employees with the utmost respect and just really gave the best service around. If this manager isn’t the owner, the owners are very lucky to have him! Great place, greater service, fantastic food!!!

This should have a zero start but google makes you pick at least one. No wait only people there should have been my sign to not eat here….. they are out of half of there menu items. No fries, okra or even chips for side. Mac and cheese was cold mash potato’s cold and off color. Pulled pork was dryer than the dessert. The chicken was so dry I could not chew it and it snapped like a cracker…. My wife and I had to throw our food away it was impossible to eat will be calling Monday for a refund!

A bit understaffed or disorganized (delivering partial orders to the table because the fryer was backed up), but the food is great and the interior is amazing!
The homemade food–especially the barbecue–is very well executed, though unfortunately the fried items seem to be frozen.
Five distinct seating areas: bar, main, upstairs, al fresco and a small private room. Upstairs area and small room are available to reserve for business or casual purposes. I did not inquire about event prices.
Definitely recommend, and please extend some courtesy to the hopefully temporary restrictions placed upon their business model (built for self-service drinks, sauce, ice cream, etc.).

I’ve eaten at several dickies before at KC and in the state on Nevada always been a family favorite but I would never eat at the location of independence Kansas again I ordered the potato casserole and was served plain mashed potatoes my brisket was boiled the Mac and cheese was dry I had to ask for bbq sauce and ranch twice even though my family was the only one in there at the time. This franchise needs to take a serious look and the quality and consistency of this location as it tarnishes the dickies brand.

I JUST GOT RIPPED OFF !!! I ordered sliced brisket,ribs,mashed potatoes and beans. I got pulled pork ribs mashed potatoes and no second side. I’ve heard they’re good is mediocre and the portions are not big from people in town. But not caring because I wanted some bbq and wasn’t planning on needing a lot of food….i decided to just pick something up after work. Omg…it was seriously one of biggest disappointments of a pickup order ever. I got 3 tiny ribs and 2 table spoons of the wrong second meat. Unbelievable. Someone please open up a bbq spot in independence ♂️

Update#2: Originally my review was a 1 Star. I have been back many times because I really like dickies. Under new Managment /ownership I can see things have changed. So, in fairness I wanted to review the review. 🙂
The store is cleaner, not perfect but definitely better.
Food was better, warmer. I did notice the potato casserole was still luke warm. Not sure what’s going on there. Tea was covered, Ice cream worked. Help was very friendly and polite.

Update. I went again. Food was Luke warm potato casserole would not melt cheese. Rolls were hard. Tea was left uncovered. Doesn’t seem sanitary. Help is not very friendly. I don’t think this store will be able to stay open if something doesn’t change. Urgently needs new upper management.
Original Review: I love the food. But the store is always dirty. Tables are not clean and the floor needs to be swept. I have been four times in the last month or so. It has usually been slow when I have come and the help is standing back chatting or texting, which I am definitely OK with. But somebody needs to be cleaning the lobby. Also, this last time in addition to the store being dirty, the sauce was cold and there was not any ice cream. It was around 6:45pm. The young help needs a good manager.

I tried the pork and sausage platter. Both meats were good, but the side’s not so much. The jalapeño beans just tasted like Chilli powder and black pepper with no jalapeño flavor. The bread was so dense it wasn’t edible. The potato salad was good.

Traveled thru here from two hours away going back home. Food was hands down the BEST bbq I’ve ever eaten. And I’ve ate some good bbq. Absolutely amazing!!! However, the girl at the front with the piercings all over her face, was quite rude to my son asking about their wings. Not good to let an employee ruin the business when the food is so incredibly good. Place was clean. Restrooms were above clean and nice.

We have eaten at this Dickies several times and have always had good service. Today we went and had the worst experience of our lives. The sad part was that it was a manager that caused the situation. Chloe was the rudest person I’ve ever done business with. My son’s sandwich was a slab of fat with a little meat attached and when we mentioned it she took it and started slamming things on the counter. My mom asked a question about the way she was ringing things up and she was rude when she answered. My mom then found a hair in her salad, when she went up to tell someone about it Chloe was rude once again. My salad was mostly one chunk of lettuce core, but by that time we knew it wouldn’t help to mention it. We also heard her talking about us with the other employees while we were eating.
