Stopped by Dickey’s Barbecue Pit and had a great experience. The food was fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The brisket was tender and smoky, the sides were well portioned, and everything tasted homemade. The staff was friendly and welcoming, making the whole visit even better. The restaurant was clean and inviting, and service was quick. If you’re craving solid, classic barbecue with good service, Dickey’s is a great choice.

If I lived in Kenosha I’d come here all the time. I like the setup of the restaurant and the menu. It was almost like a fast food restaurant in the sense that they had combo meals. I really really liked coming in and having things so simple to get my order in, and the food came really fast in 5 star condition and taste. My brisket sandwich was delicious. The bun had a crisp which added so much dimension and flavor to the sandwich every bite was just heavenly. It held together cleanly so no mess at all and this was no ordinary experience. There were plenty of sides to choose from and I got the potato salad which was as good as a side as your gonna get and the fries were perfect- super fresh and hot but not greasy all. They have a warmer for sauces so you just help yourself. This restaurant smoked any other fast food restaurant I know of and next time I see a Dickey’s I definitely will be pulling in. Lastly I would be remiss not to mention the gentleman and fine cashier that took care of me. In a world of deteriorating customer service, thank you. Nice people doing nice things.

My recent experience at Dickey’s Barbecue Pit was deeply disappointing, especially as someone who has genuinely enjoyed the brand in the past. The location I visited did not reflect the standards I once associated with Dickey’s. The interior was dimly lit, cluttered with merchandise piled near the entrance, and lacked the warm, inviting atmosphere one expects from a traditional barbecue restaurant.
I was excited to stop in while traveling, particularly because the Dickey’s in my home city had closed and consistently delivered excellent food. Unfortunately, this visit fell far short. The meats appeared old and improperly handled. Cuts were uneven, dry, and inconsistent with the quality the brand promotes.
The chicken and turkey were nearly indistinguishable—both had an unappetizing gray tone and similar texture. The brisket, or what was presented as brisket, was severely overcooked, burnt along the edges, dry throughout, and crumbled apart without flavor. The aroma and taste were unpleasant and not representative of properly prepared barbecue.
Even the barbecue sauce was unacceptable. It was watery, oddly chunky, and lacked balance in flavor—more reminiscent of something poorly stored than freshly prepared. Sauce should enhance smoked meat, not detract from it.
The food presentation did not resemble what is shown on the company’s website, and the overall experience was disheartening. By the time we realized how disappointing the meal was, we were already back on the freeway. The food ultimately went uneaten.
As a former loyal customer, this was not just a bad meal—it was a letdown. I sincerely hope franchise ownership conducts a thorough quality control review at this location to restore the standards that once made Dickey’s a dependable barbecue destination.

I really wanted to like this place, especially since it was recommended by a friend and I had a gift card, but the food just wasn’t there.
The ribs had almost no meat on them, the pulled pork was dry, and the “spicy” BBQ sauce was a joke — it tasted like paprika or artificial heat with no depth. The mac and cheese was bland, with sludge-like cheese and rubbery noodles.
The biggest disappointment for me was the jalapeño beans. They tasted like someone poured jalapeño brine into beans and called it a day — maybe from pickled jalapeños. And the Texas toast isn’t Texas toast at all; it’s just regular toast.
The meal was basically free thanks to the gift card, but if I had paid the advertised 2-for-$30, I would have been livid.
I do want to be clear: the restaurant itself is clean, the atmosphere is nice, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I just wish the food wasn’t so depressing.

Let me start with the people were great. No issues. Everything else start to end was just really bad. The brisket was absolutely horrible imagine the driest toughest pot roast you can and smoke it… the ‘loaded baked potato casserole’ images of baked potatos with sour cream cheese and a little bacon come up (right?) it was anything but. It was instant mashed potatoes in a cup. No cheese no sour cream (which could be mixed in) but you’re at a bbq joint and not even a hint of bacon. That unrisen hockey puck they tried to pass off as a roll? Was rough. I spent $25 and left unsatisfied and HUNGRY. It’s been 10 yrs since I’ve visited and well it will be at least another before I even think about. If you want quick serve BBQ go down the road to mission bbq. It’s just ok but at least you won’t leave hungry.

When it last night 20 minutes before they closed, they looked upset that they had to keep working, and did not seem pleased to have a new customer. I thought the food was good until this morning I definitely woke up with food poisoning. I used to cut this place all the time and it used to be OK but something changed for sure and I will never come back

I tried to order something for Xmas dinner, but I was too late and they ran out. James, my hero, went to the store and got the ingredients and made my family a big pan of stuffing from scratch! He literally saved Christmas dinner, because if I had tried to make stuffing it wouldn’t have been nearly as good! Everybody loved it! So, thank you James, dinner would not have been the same without you!!
Then, when we picked it up, we had to stay to have some lunch, and my brisket was amazing, and the fried okra was the best I’ve had in awhile. Love this place!!

The mac & cheese is gooey and thick. The green beans are amazing but has pork. The brisket was shredded and still kept the brisket meaty and fatty bits. The potato salad was okay… the potatoes needed to cook longer and needed more mustardness. This location is a Coke fountain and they offer gold peak tea (sweet and unsweetened) People working there were really sweet and answered all of our questions.
